Got told about stocks from some work colleagues in Wigan whilst working on a project. This is a gem of a place if you want to eat good food you won't be disappointed don't miss this one if in the area...the quantities are good and the prices are very fair. You can eat in the restaurant or in the bar area, if you are travelling with a dog you can eat in the bar area with the dog by the table. The bar area is laid out with tables a little more casual than the restaurant but it feels more like a restaurant area than a bar. The menu has a great variety of food we struggled to choose as there were so many dishes we fancied trying. The food arrived after a short wait it looked great and tasted superb, it was well cooked well presented on the plate. The staff were great lovely little blond bar maid who not only served at the bar but was doing table service too very polite and attentive. The waiting staff from the restaurant were also great we were told if you eat in the bar you have to order from the bar but we had our order taken at the table by the restaurant staff. This place gets busy which is totally understandable with the food they serve, I suggest you book ahead to secure a table. They venue is on a tee junction it has a small amount of parking to the rear and another small parking area opposite the spaces are tight but OK. During the summer there are a number of benches at the back around the car park if you want to sit outside. Thanks to Stocks and their staff for a nice enjoyable evening meal will be visiting again and will be bringing more of our project team over next time to enjoy The Stocks..
Great food very friendly staff well priced clean and lovely atmosphere
Enjoyed a delicious Turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Very reasonably priced 2/3 course festive menu. Everything was cooked to perfection. Good helping and plenty of fresh veg. Can honestly say it's one of the best Christmas dinners I've ever had. Nice restaurant area, pleasant and efficient staff, clean. Parking both outside and across the road in overspill car park. Will return to try out their usual menu.
We have been for a meal for 6 twice recently. The second time there was a Christmas party group of about 20 there too. They were a little noisy, but then it is Christmas! The food both times was very good with a fairly wide choice. On our second visit, although the staff had to deal with food and drink orders and cater for the large party, it did not impact on our service which was excellent and from what I could see they could also manage to deliver all the meals to the big party in a timely manner. Great, pleasant and hard working staff. Thank you for our family experience.
Very clean and food was brilliant. I had Sirloin Steak to die for. My Wife had cheese and onion pie shortcrust pastry melted in your mouth. A definite return on the cards. Only small car park though.
Staff are friendly, food is great. Nice atmosphere and very welcoming. Me and my family don't see one another very often so when we meet up to visit mum and dad and tend their garden of remembrance we go for lunch afterwards and The stocks is our choice of venue.
Nice local pub with a contemporary decor. Staff are friendly and helpful. You can eat in the bar area where there are a few small tables or in the dining area. I had a tasty veggie Dahl when I visited and the place was pretty busy.
The food was the best I've had for a long time, compliments to the chef!! Very warm welcome, modern & cosy with lovely staff. We'll be back soon to try the cocktails. Thanks
