What a hidden gem!! Beautifully preserved the way it was. Cosy theatre full of charm and history. It was built for the poor to enjoy theatre like people in the West End.
This is a bit quirky and it feels a bit as if it is a disused theatre where someone decided to put on shows without doing it up first, but it is a very interesting place to visit.nIt has a lot of history involving social reform, religion, and the Battle of Cable Street.nAlthough it has pillars in the auditorium, their twisted shape means they don't restrict your view as much as those of some West End Theatres, but the floor of the stalls is quite flat rather than raked so you may have heads blocking your view - unless you are in the raised seats at the back.
Such an amazing historic place. Small cosy theatre with bare walls and wroght iron bannisters, stone floors, it looks a few hundred years old. The bar is great, can come have a drink even without theatre tickets. We'll worth a visit.
Excellent space to see A Song Queen: the Pidgin Opera. Very atmospheric building and liked the history panels that were available to read.
Beautiful and atmospheric venue with cultured, stylish crowd. Great bar atmos. Fascinating range of shows.
