I was taken to the Whittington Hospital A&E Urgent Care Unit because of excruciating pain in my knee that prevented me from taking a single more step.nnI was seen by the triage nurse straight away who told me that a doctor would have to look at my knee.nAfter a long but not at all unpleasant wait I was seen bynDr Alexander Saleh who was absolutely brilliant and examined me with much kindness , respect and concern for my knee. After some manual tests, he ordered an x -ray and subsequently a referral to a specialist. He also gave me valuable tips on how to deal with the pain and the muscles of my leg in the meantime.nnAs other reviewers here have mentioned, it seemed while waiting patiently in the waiting area that there were a couple of complete turnovers of fellow patients that arrived long after me but were seen before. When I finally asked one of the nurses if I might have been forgotten she explained that there are 4 different queues in this urgent care unit. So it means they make sure you will be seen by the right person and some of the queues just move slower than others. While waiting I observed the various nurses and doctors come out of their rooms and wards to call the next patient and I must say they were all super kind and just seemed to diligently treat one case at a time with genuine care.nnThank you, Whittington staff for taking such good care of us!
Amid the chaos and disorder, staff here put themselves on the line. Polite infinitely patient, no pun intended. Was seen there for a broken leg and had my x-rays done, yes there was a wait for hours and hours. My experience and theirs could be better if we invested in our health system, but this is not a party political broadcast. The waiting area is crowded, the nurses and orderlies do try to find a place for you and keep things moving as best they can. My experience I would say was a good one. There is a vending machine in the waiting room security and cleaning staff too.
5 starsnI’ve not been treated. I walked in today but it was a full house. A four hour wait so I felt it better to come back when it’s not as busy. I may have sprained an ankle or worst. But sure some people have it far worse so I prefer to not take up the doctors time so that the serious cases get full energy. Let’s be grateful As I saw the tired exhausted faces of staff. They rarely have a minute break. There’s always a person waiting for their help. Even in their stress the receptionist was polite to me and I could see she had no break all day. So five stars as we were so grateful to medical staff during lockdown but kinda stopped showing out grateful after.
Was carefully and efficiently looked after by a whole team who were kind and professional. Really impressed. The hospital was full, A&E was busy, there were patients in corridors and the amazing NHS staff were doing their jobs excellently nevertheless.
Been waiting 9 hours and counting, have been “next in line” for the last two hours and now been told there are no doctors to see patients because it’s handover time. I understand NHS is under immense pressure but this has been one of the worst experiences of my life. If A&E can’t handle patients, 111 shouldn’t tell patients to go there. Avoid at all costs.
