I've stayed here twice and each time I have had a fairly good experience! Upon checking in the staff were very friendly but there are self-check in machines which is handy if it is busy. There is a Starbucks in the lobby as well which is a nice addition. The rooms are smaller than other rooms I've stayed in, but it's not too bad. There are USBs on each side of the bed, but there is a lack of actual plug sockets. The room had air conditioning but also a Dyson fan which you can use for heating. The bathroom has smart glass, which you press a button to make opaque. The problem I found with this is that the door doesn't go opaque, so if you're walking past you can still see in and hear everything. I would've preferred a wall. It was also quite noisy with motorbikes going past for most of the night, and the people around me were quite loud as well slamming doors etc. The pool is great, which has a sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. You have to walk down some stairs to get from the changing rooms to the pool which was strange. The changing room was busy from people from the gym as well. Breakfast was pretty good, there is a good selection of continental/cooked breakfast with a coffee machine as well.
The room itself is lovely, clean and modern and I loved the glass bathroom set up, although you can hear everything when someone is on the loo. Biggest complaint, and its a big one, is the noise. It's not from people in other rooms but the from the gym, work classes constantly banging out base tunes so it feels like you are staying in night club toilets. We were told this all finished at 10pm. It did but was then followed up by music and banging from the bar. We were on the third floor into the early hours, so if you stay here and want a quiet relaxing stay, ask for top floor. I didn't sleep a wink, worst ever night for noise in a hotel, even more so than a capital city break where you like the atmos. When we told staff they acted like we were making it up as we were on a higher floor and still heard it, which doesn't happen. No apologies we felt like we were just causing an issue and making it up, thanks for that. Ironically I would stay again as the hotel and room was nice but I would only ever insist on top floor. I felt like it's really a club 18-30 place.
Short break to visit family in the area led us to book a promotional weekend break here . Rooms are clean and comfortable, similar in style to other Village hotels we've stayed at. The only thing I didn't like was glass partition between bedroom and shower/toilet . Room serviced every day and staff pleasant and welcoming. Unfortunately a voucher we were sent for money off dining didn't work and I think meals are expensive for the quality on offer at full price
Overall experience was okay, nothing special. Gym and sauna take it up from 2 stars to 3 stars You don’t have much privacy even with the frosted glass as the door isn’t covered and doesn’t shut fully so you can hear everything the person does in the bathroom. Shower is very nice. I would give the food at the pub and grill a BIG miss, 4 of us ordered meals and the only thing we could taste was oil and grease, this is pretty impressive as I’ve never had a burger and chips this bad. I wouldn’t really care but it cost £16 a meal so pretty embarrassing. Staff were very good there and a credit to the company.
The location is the major reason I only gave this hotel four stars—it is not too close to the town centre or the coastline. Still, the hotel and service are excellent altogether. The reception area has a self-check machine that is simple to operate and allows you to make the keys yourself. Additionally, the room is nice—it's neither too big nor too little. The bathroom has a shower and is very large with all glass and transparent materials. If you would like some privacy for yourself, there is a touch button. I find the room arrangement to be really impressive. Normally, I find it tough to regulate the room temperature, but they have a Dyson fan, which is quite convenient and well-thought-out. If you reserve a room with them, you can use the spa, sauna, and jacuzzi for free. You have a Starbucks on site.Given that it is worth the money, I would recommend to others.
Only reviewing as a gym member the gym is well sized and lots of different equipment, changing rooms are spacious and clean with really good showers. The classes are great, I do a weekly yoga which is normally fully booked weekend yoga classes would be good! the pool is lovely, the hot tub sauna and steam room make it feel like a mini spa day. The only downside is the size of the pool quite small and if there's more than two people in a lane it's pretty hard to swim properly but overall it does the job! Lovely friendly staff :
Every time I walk in here, the staff scream at me whether I’ve got early check-in or not never seem to say a polite hello it’s really offputting. The rooms are absolutely tiny as well very claustrophobic.
Stayed at The Village Hotel last night. Easy to find, lots of parking. I am already a gym member in another location which is why I considered this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. By joining the Village Hotel Club, which is free and open to anyone, I got a brilliant Sunday night deal for £69 which included a £30 meal voucher, access to the gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam room, free parking and you can add breakfast in advance for £10. I checked in in about 3 minutes, the room was quiet, clean, has tea/ coffee making facilities, really comfy and warm bed, lovely ensuite with lots of hot water and shampoo/shower gel. Staff at dinner were friendly, attentive and efficient. What a bargain!
First class experience from the moment you walk in and are greeted by the fabulous Charlotte on reception, to the moment you leave and pick up the best Starbucks in town from Kat, Tasha and team. Wouldn’t recommend anywhere else not only due to the great quality, service and experience, but down to how all employees go the extra mile. Highly recommend and extremely great value for money also!
Hotel is in a good location. Service was extremely horrible, Rooms are not the cleanest. Workers are insensitive and rude. 2 occasions 1 One of the guest was drunk from the bar and grill at the hotel. and police came to arrest the guest. The guest approached my husband and was almost trying to attack him. Granted he was drunk but i think the irritating thing is the way staff handled it. - I feel the hotel restaurant knowing they have families including children should be responsible. Dont keep serving him drinks when you know he is already drunk. Be kind, let him know its time to go home or go to his room. Second occasion we had a long stay booking. on the 6th day we requested to kindly have our room cleaned and beddings changed. The cleaner slammed doors, as we wait in the corridor, kept talking out loud about how she hates her job and been cleaning dirty rooms thankfully we clean prior- we just needed vacuum. We listened how she talked about other guest and then she started with my kids stating there was coffee on the carpet we don't drink coffee - we had connecting rooms. It was a very horrible experience. She still didnt clean. My husband then asked for cleaning towel and we ended up cleaning our rooms ourselves. What I can say about this hotel is 1 Discrimination - They are clearly not comfortable if people of color. 2 Extremely rude staff 3 Terrible customer service. Look into the management and start some real customer service training. Ask Staff members to stop discussing guest in a rude manner. It does not matter what color they are. Treat every customer with respect. By far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. kids were shaken up by the slamming of bin and everything around the room. Rooms: Good rooms if it will be cleaned. Carpet is dirty and beware - you will be blamed for it. We had to clean our rooms ourselves. However if you are open to cleaning your own room yourself might have a good stay. Nearby activities: Town center isn't far off and they had a good festival over the weekend. Safety: Not very safe. Police came to arrest a guest while we were there. The drinking isnt controlled so you have a very disruptive bar and irresponsible staff. Walkability: Good walkability score Food & drinks: breakfast is ok. They had very limited options. There is one nice elderly lady there. Worth mentioning as this is the ONLY good staff we came accross.
