I liked this hotel. Thanks to its maritime history it has character which is so often missing from the modern chains. There are model ships and the like. If you get a refurbished room (hopefully most will be by now) it is also clean and comfortable. There is a plaque beside the lift which appears to say it was opened by the Queen. A lift? The dining experience in the Horatio restaurant felt slightly old fashioned (not a bad thing). The menu (see photo) had a good variety of dishes and it was all nicely cooked and tasty. I would stay here again. It is very close to the dockyard attractions.

I was there for a re-union of boys who had joined at HMS Ganges in January 1968. I had a single room which was warm, clean and tidy. The staff in the restaurant and bar were friendly, cheerful and welcoming and the food was superb! I cannot find fault with anything on my stay there. The Royal Maritime Club is just a VERY nice place to stay.

I am a regular guest at the Maritime Club and find the location perfect for visiting the Historic Dockyard, the Outlet Centre, the Spinnaker Tower and other local attractions, all within easy walking distance. The Hotel staff are welcoming and willing to help at all times. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet. Car parking is generally available on site but if not the daily parking permits available at the hotel are reasonably priced to park on nearby streets. I've not eaten an evening meal but can say the breakfasts are plentiful. They are self-service and the selection is vast. The Maritime Club would always be my first choice of accommodation in Portsmouth.

A bit old fashioned but I guess that's what you expect! Nice hot tub and small pool which do not get busy, plus very friendly staff.

This is our 2nd time to The Maritime Club. We enjoyed it so much we had to return. The staff are so friendly all around the hotel. The food is very good. The room was clean and comfortable. A short walk from the dock yard. For us perfect in every way. We will definitely be returning.
