Room was compact, bathroom even smaller. The room had the basics needed and plug socket near to bed. Room was lovely and clean, bed was soft and comfortable. Had one spare pillow for a double room not sure why there wasn't two. Could of asked I suppose but didn't. Room had a fan and was very hot, tried to open windows but is on a very busy street and couldn't have slept with them open from road noise and local venues with music playing. Foyer looked impressive coming in, while place was lovely and clean throughout. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Parking was a very small area, not enough for whole hotel and was £12 for 24hrs, had electric car and luckily had one spot left as we arrived to be able to charge but other spaces occupied with ev cars were not charging. Real shame if people needed to charge, with people using spaces but not charging themselves. Breakfast was good. Chef was attentive and kept refilling. Plenty to choose from to get you going for your day. The hot food was not greasy at all, and seemed good quality. Would stay again but not in the warmer seasons. Rooms: Comfy bed, chargers by bedside table. Just a shame no air con. Walkability: Great location, we stayed here and went shopping at gunwharf just a 10 min walk away, then went to guildhall in evening with just a 5 min walk.
Not a bad experience at Ibis Portsmouth Centre. Location is spot on, staff were friendly and the room was clean. Parking is expensive and limited. The room was quite small, it was ok for me on my own but it would be a bit of a dancing act if there were two. Everything else was fairly standard.Rooms: 4/5
Great location close to centre where there’s a nightlife, however, the room was like a uni dorm, the bathroom was tiny and the decor was gloomy. Furthermore, the shower screen door did not close properly but the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was unappealing and we were served undercooked sausages and whilst we had breakfast the ceiling started leaking next to us. The parking had to be paid for, which was not specified. Overall, the stuff were friendly and welcoming and happy to welcome dogs.
Was greeted at the check-in area by a polite gentleman, who quickly got us checked in and told us where our room was. My sister and I went out for the evening at the Guildhall which was even closer than I anticipated. When we returned, I spoke to the barman, Johnno, and asked if he was still serving, he said he was packing up but would be happy to grab us a drink. We ended up talking with him for a bit, he was a really nice guy and showed exceptional customer service. The room was clean and tidy, they were small which we expected but we were only there to sleep so this wasn't an issue. The bathrooms are very small but achieve their purpose. Only things worth noting are the sockets are limited, 2 wall plugs and one multi-socket by the window and you can hear the traffic on the road side of the building. For the price and location, we left happy. Nearby activities: We went to a gig at the Guildhall. Wouldn't recommend eating at Kens on the way back though, over priced and very greasy. Walkability: I chose Ibis as I knew it was close to the Guildhall, it was literally a 3 minute walk away.
Sara on reception was super helpful and I was grateful to be able to check in a bit earlier so I could get quite a few bits done. Really helped my day run smoothly. The room was small but clean. A slightly musty/damp smell in the room so had to keep the windows open
A great hotel located really well. Very clean and well designed. Slightly smaller bathrooms, but certainly workable. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I would consider this hotel slightly cleaner than others I've stayed in, but this may be due to staff employed. Happily will return. Rooms: Compact but well designed Walkability: Great location for Portsmouth Noteworthy details: Paid carpark for 24hrs, first come fist served
Rooms and bathroom were tiny. Greeted by a member of staff who was very helpful.Bar area very chilled. Ideal central Portsmouth location for night life, theatre and shoppingRooms: 3/5
I recently stayed at the Portsmouth IBIS, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, the room I was allocated was incredibly small, offering very limited space. The bathroom was particularly disappointing; it was poorly maintained, with insufficient room in the toilet area, making it uncomfortable to sit without bumping into the walls. Moreover, the shower didn't drain properly, resulting in dirty water pooling around my ankles. To add to the discomfort, I noticed dog hairs scattered throughout the room, which was quite off-putting. Overall, the cleanliness standards were appalling, leaving much to be desired. When I raised my concerns with the staff, they were accommodating and offered to change my room. However, they also informed me that as a pet-friendly hotel, noise from animals on all floors could potentially disrupt my sleep, making the prospect of changing rooms less appealing. On a positive note, I must mention that the lobby area presented a stark contrast to the room. It was modern, clean, and spacious, offering a pleasant environment. Unfortunately, this only served to highlight the stark disparity in standards between the common areas and the accommodation itself.
I booked this hotel purely as it offered on-site parking. Upon arrival we were then hit with a £12 parking charge - which came as a bit of a shock as there was no notification of this when we booked the hotel. Now for the room. We were located on the top floor, so the hottest part of the building. No aircon or heating controls, so the room was like a sauna - even with the window open and fan on. The bathroom door also has a huge gap at the bottom. Whomever designed theses rooms did not consider that humans actually go for number 2’s as well. Hopefully your partner doesn’t mind the smell of your excrement wafting back into the room where you sleep. The staff were very polite, kind and professional, but were unfortunately unable to help relocate us to another room due to the hotel being fully booked. I’ll never stay in an ibis again. Do yourself a favour and book the premier inn down the road.
I was unlucky enough to spend two nights in this hotel. The rooms have no soundproofing, the first nite our room was right next to the lift so I heard everyone getting on or of the lift or talking. On the second night few days later we asked for a room away from the lift, on entry it smelled strongly of some spray, could not identify it. Then I realized it was to cover cigarette smoke that was coming from the corridor side. We had the window open but despite that I could still smell it the whole night and my other half got awaken by the strength of it at 4am. I have not slept and each morning I felt bewildered by the fact that I paid money to get no sleep. On top of that I sat down on one of the sofas in the lobby only to realize it was either soaked in urine or a beer. I had to change my trousers as I have not fancied walking around with massive wet patch of an origin i was not sure of. The hotel staff were informed of all of this and their response was that they will investigate. I will not be coming back.
