Its been years since i stayed at a travelodge and if im honest, i wasn't looking forward to it as it was grim!nI was 100% pleased with the service at the reception and bar, the room was comfortable and suited fir my 4 night stay.nThe only issues were the shower curtain being fitted so the water falls onto the bathroom floor and some random person walking about during a fire alarm saying its all ok! That person turned out to be a staff member from house keeping that looked like a customer, no id or fire tabbard on. It caused confusion with some guests who returned to their rooms whilst prior to cancellation amd others went outside to wair until someone from the front of house team attended.nnOther than that, its location for the town centre and harbour area is very good.nnIts also right next to Asda, the RNLI Hq and Sunseeker boats.
Visited a couple months back for a night away, can easily say this is the best value for money I've gotten at a hotel! Room was clean and spacious, perfect size, bathroom was sanitary and towels provided. The bed was clean and comfortable. The staff were some of the loveliest people, very welcoming and enjoyable to talk to, and quick to assist if you needed, going the extra mile. Location is great, overlooking one of the bays, and very easy to find on approach. Asda open till late next door, and plenty of restaurants nearby if you opt to go out for food. Quick walk to the Poole quay and town centre, and a short easy drive to Bournemouth.
Overall pretty good. Great value all you can eat breakfast although the veggie sausages could be better quality. One massive gripe, make sure you register your vehicle registration immediately upon arrival to ensure you are not liable for a £100 fine. The staff for some reason fail to the you this!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fire alarm faulty. When it was activated everyone evacuated but staff did not appear to be in control - the responsible fire officer was not obvious and guests were left outside for 40 minutes without updates. Several more activations took place and at one point the manager indicated he was going to deactivate the system. I informed the fire service and they confirmed there was fault. I spent the rest of the night in the car as I judged it to be safer and more peaceful. I requested a refund but as I had booked on a saver rate they refused, only offering £20 compensation.
I have never stayed in a Travelodge before. I arrived there straight off the ferry. I hadn't booked a room as I was intending to drive home straightaway. Got there at 1pm and asked if I could book a room. The uninterested middle aged female receptionist told me that I had to book online or on the phone. She couldn't take bookings apparently. I phoned from my car and booked quite easily, then went back to reception and gave them my booking reference. A very nice young man took my reference number, but told me that I couldn't get in before 3pm, because not all of the rooms had been serviced. He dealt with my parking voucher, which was free, because I am disabled and have a blue badge. He also gave me a code for the hotel Wi-Fi, and said that he would get me a room on the ground floor. His name is Grantas. After sitting in my car for 2 hours, I went back to reception to register. There was a couple in front of me who were checking out, and they were chatting to the same uninterested middle aged female that I had encountered before. She saw me and continued chatting about nothing for 14 minutes to this couple. When they finally left, she got up, ignoring me, and asked Grantas to deal with me, which he started doing. She then sat down again and Grantas had to ask her to get me a room on the ground floor, which she eventually did. She made no eye contact with me at all, and left it to Grantas to get me a key card. People like her don't deserve a job in hospitality. Rude cow. Grantas, however, was a credit to the company. He was polite, helpful and professional. He was also very friendly, and full of local knowledge. I paid over £150 for one night, including breakfast. I wish that I had driven straight home.
