The hotel itself and rooms are as you’d expect from the chain, but it did provide a quiet and comfortable nights sleep in a convenient location. But the real treat here was the staff - all super friendly and happy to engage in good conversation, and I really got the impression they were happy and proud to be working there, which made all the difference. The bar is open 24 hours which is great and everywhere throughout the hotel was clean, even if a little dated in sections. The lifts were a bit slow but functional, but overall it was a pleasant and good value stay. I’d stop here again for sure.
Paid £138 for 1 night, I was expecting at least a decent view, not being next to a van and some bins. Anyways, I enter the room, go into the bathroom, it’s like a portaloo. TINY. The bed was okay but when I tried to fall asleep it took 2 HOURS! The AC was on the whole night and the ‘off’ button didn’t work on it. I get a shower, it boils my skin and then freezes my skin. There’s a ton of marks and stains on the walls which isn’t great and a sticky stain on the desk… Genuinely I would rather rent a car for the day and sleep in that than stay here again. Wouldn’t recommend.
Hotel in a great location. Rooms could be more up to date. The shower was unpleasant at times with hot and cold water running intermittently. The showerhead stuck so low that we needed to kneel to get it over our heads. There was no soap in our dispenser which I would think should be top up during the cleaning schedule. Comfortable beds! Rooms: Comfortable bed Walkability: Close to London Kings Cross
So the rooms are standard Travel Lodge, nothing special but they do the job and when you're there for work, what more do you need? Room didn't have an iron or board which I had to get from reception but that's about the worst of it apart from the bloody workmen digging up the water pipes at UnGodly O'clock, but I can't blame Travel Lodge for that. Breakfast is decent and plentiful. Evening meal menu is quite acceptable and was good. Staff are really nice and helpful.
Adequate for the price. Some rooms have air conditioning and a bathtub, that's nice. The area was nice and quiet at night. The bed was comfortable medium hardness spring mattress. TV was low resolution and occasionally stutters. Cleanliness wasn't the best. Dust around the corners of the bed, there was a bit of black mildew in/around the silicone sealant of the bathtub and the carpet looks very worn. We had our air conditioning malfunction during our stay, friendly staff was able to give us a room swap without hassle. Our new room however had a slightly malfunctioning hand soap dispenser...
Staff were great and the breakfast was fantastic. You have to pay for wifi which is a bit of a downside as premier inn and easy hotel include it within your original price. The dinner menu was very limited and the room I stayed in certainly showed its age at times but it was, altogether, a very nice stay.Rooms: 4/5
Can't complain too much, cheap rooms, felt like a safe area, 15mins walk from the tube and bus station, friendly staff and clean enough. It just hasn't been maintained well and our experience in particular had a whistling vent in the bathroom which was loud enough to annoy us at night, the air con was working so it was very warm in the room and the key card didn't really work at the front door out of hours so if no one was at the desk you were stuck outside. Safety: Me and my sister went. As two young women walking around on our own we felt quite safe Walkability: Walking distance to main station Kings Cross St Pancras and plenty of shops and food places Food & drinks: Food at restaurant and can order in advance to pick up and take away
I forgot how bad Travelodge is until a stay here this week. I waited in the lobby for the 10 people in front of me to check in with the one memeber of staff. Once checked in, I navigated up a lift along a corridor down some stairs and then back along the corridor, and I found my room. I had a super room which is on the quiet floor, it's the quiet floor because it's so far away. Windows are rubbish and let in a draft with a constant noise of traffic. However, they had a clever little feature to drown this out. You can put the air conditioning on, which sounds like an aeroplane engine. The bed was comfortable enough and allowed me to lay down watching the postage stamp TV across the room. Just a small dilemma here, I had a choice. I could either cover my feet or my chest with the quilt, it makes no sense why the quilt is so short. Breakfast was surprisingly ok though.
Bedroom was compact, beding fresh and clean as were the towels. Bathroom very small but adequate. No floor mat in bathroom but was provided when asked. No fan in bathroom. Noise and vibration from tube was noticeable as was noise from other residents. Better soundproofing would be an improvement. A good clean of all carpets and bathrom flooring especially the edges and skirting boards.
BED BUGS ALERT! I stayed here for two nights for a business trip and sadly got bitten by bed bugs. The bites came up a couple of days after my stay which was very unpleasant. The WiFi did not connect despite 2x codes provided and paying for a room with WiFi. I called the hotel post visit to let them know of my bed bug experience and which room was affected so that others don't get to experience the same. The part that I was truly disappointed with was in doing so, I did not receive any apology or offer of any compensation surrounding my visit. I will also be making our booking agent aware of this bad experience.
