We were originally in room 113 which was surprisingly good value. When we first arrived, it did feel hot. The windows were already open as far as they could go, which makes me think that it's a known issue with this room.nnEvery other part of the hotel, including the corridor immediately outside the room, was cool. It wasn't all that hot outside either. I'm not sure if this is something to do with this room in particular?nnWe had hoped that it would cool down in the evening so we headed out for dinner. The temperature was the same when we returned.nnThe windows didn't open very far and there was also a very bright security light shining into the room, so we had to close the curtains which blocked airflow further. We tried to sleep but just couldn't, so by about midnight we decided to give up and see whether the front desk could help.nnIan on the front desk basically told us that we should raise any issues before midnight as the system doesn't allow room switches after this time, and that's the case at any hotel, so we should time it better in the future. It should be that the hotel can cater for a customer - not chastise the customer for timing which is out of the customer's control.nnAnyway, we were moved to another room which was lovely and much cooler. I would just say that if your room is too warm, raise it ASAP as it might not get any cooler later into the evening as you may logically expect.
The location, right on the edge of town, is great. Parking is not. Staff didn't engage at all, making no attempt to entice us to spend time or money within the venue.....perhaps the kitchen was busy enough?nnThe room was good - as you'd expect but good - the lifts were effective. Breakfast was worth getting up for and the views from up there were smart.
I stayed in a single room here, which was clean, comfy and a good size for a single room. The breakfast buffet was really enjoyable. There was a great range of options available and the view from the 5th floor where I had the breakfast was great. The hotel was opposite Betty's Tea rooms and only a 5 minute walk from the train and bus station.nThe only downside was getting woken up at 2am by a couple having an argument outside. It was a Bank Holiday Weekend so lots of people were out late.
Beautiful hotel. Rooms are good sized, but lack air conditioning. That may be fine during most of the year, but it's a huge drawback in the middle of summer when it gets quite hot outside.
Spent 3 nights here for my partners birthday. Room was fine for our needs we were at the rear of the hotel lots of early morning noise refuse collection deliveries etc. Hotel dated in some areas. Breakfast good plenty of selection although hot food not so hot. On arrival receptionist gave no information whatsoever just gave us our key card I had to ask about Breakfast times.nMy biggest gripe was the £15 per night parking charge which is absolutely extortionate I was aware of this when I booked and chose to pay it but on this issue alone I would not stay here again.
