The Stepping Stones
"Whether you’re a local looking for a well-kept pint of real ale or a family on holiday in the Peak District, you’ll find a warm welcome at The Stepping Stones pub. Situated on the edge of Ashbourne, we’re a short drive from the start of the National Park. Come for a drink on our large patio, a business lunch, or a well-earned meal at the end of a hard day’s walk. The centrepiece of our pub is our rotisserie oven, which roasts tender, freshly-prepared birds daily. Choose your sauces and sides and prepare to lose yourself in rotisserie heaven. With traditional and modern accompaniments on offer, there’s plenty to tantalise whatever your tastes.Fancy a great British pub meal?"

Stopped in on our travel across country, despite it being a very busy mother's Day lunch time they were able to wear us. The food was absolutely delicious. Served quickly and presented beautifuly. Lovely decor and seeing the rotisserie chickens cooking was a unique touch. Would highly recommend. Staff were very helpful and friendly just a lovely experience.
Called in with my dog when we were going shopping at Aldi. I do the dog and my wife the shopping for cake, sweets and bread. Great pint of beer. Dog bowls and water with dog biscuits as well. Very nice pub and welcoming and friendly staff. I was outside as dog needed it. Plenty of bins outside, garden well maintained.
Came here with friends for a meal whilst staying at the Travelodge. There was a warm welcome into a large seating area. The menu was varied with lots of choice for vegetarians and vegans. The cocktail menu was brilliant with some really interesting ones. Service was unfortunately very slow. We ordered fairly quickly but too a long time to get starters and mains. When it came it was well cooked and tasted really nice. My veggie lasagne could have done with a few less minutes being kept warm.
We visited last minute and was able to have a late dinner. It was lovely and quiet which made a great intimate date atmosphere. The staff are super kind and patient & we were really welcomed. The food was great too! Highly recommend Top tip - their sharing chicken wings are are a great portion! We ordered 8 wings and that’s the portion in the pic we received.
We were delayed getting to the pub for our booking but one call and they moved the time with no problem. We were served straight away and our food arrived with no issues which was great as we expected to wait considering our lateness. Me and my husband both had the rotisserie chicken which was so good. My son went for the chicken burger which he said was the best burger he'd ever had! My daughter was also very happy with her kids fish finger meal. Desserts were also very good, although, the tiramasu was a little dry but not a deal breaker. Every member of staff who served us was so helpful, attentive and friendly especially Lou who couldn't do enough. We wish her well for the last few months of her pregnancy and in the future with her little one. All in all, a perfect end to an exhausting day at Alton Towers. We only wished you were open for breakfast. Thank you.
We arrived for lunch to find a very apologetic woman saying their gas had failed and was currently being repaired as we spoke. That meant they couldn't serve anything that needed to be cooked on the top of the cooker. Despite that the meat pie and lamb shank they served were excellent so I can only assume their food is even better when the kitchen is working properly. The Hobgoblin was served perfectly as well.
Friendly staff with fairly typical pub setting and food. My wife and I both had pies chicken and mushroom for my wife and cheese, leek and potato for me and they were both tasty. Our dog wasn't with us but dogs clearly welcome and there were board games on offer that we didn't get the chance to experience
it was quiz night when i visited and, therefore, quite busy but the service by the girls in your team was exemplary. i was advised that food might take 45 minutes but it was only 30. the time flew while I listened to the quiz. each and every one of the girls, and the one young man, was friendly, attentive and efficient. whoever is training the team here is doing good job.
This was a first time visit to meet with our granddaughter and boyfriend. Booking a table at this dog-friendly pub was easy and we were greeted warmly on arrival. Plenty of choice on the menu. We had 'Posh fish finger' sandwiches and chips. Portions were very generous and the chips were excellent and very filling. Not very busy for mid week but easy parking and disabled access.
I had the roast beef, the whole meal was fantastic, tasty and well cooked. Not very often I clear my plate but did on this occasion! Staff were friendly. Only marked down due to little pricey.
