A great place to stay in the Peak District. The inn has three very comfortable and well appointed rooms in a converted stable next to the four-century-old pub - the sign outside had fallen off when we visited but it is the heart of the little village of Kirk Ireton and everyone knows it. A welcoming local with excellent ales, it is open Wednesday to Sunday but last orders can be early 9.30 on a Saturday night!. Very good full English breakfast.
What can I say the Barley Mow Inn is an incredibly beautiful place to stay. Just the building and gardens on their own are stunning. When you add high quality bed linen and a breakfast that would put most 5* hotels to shame, it makes it the perfect location to explore the Peak District. Rachel and Henry are incredible hosts and so helpful and made our stay perfect. We can’t wait to return.
Classic Olde Worlde pub full of charm and character. Real ale fetched from the barrel in a jug and served up as requested ensuring the ale is in good condition. Open fire grate in the main room. It's like stepping back in time. Wooden tables and chairs with some tables upscaling snooker slate beds. Highly recommended.
This Inn is a little gem of a pub set deep in the countryside no fancy food here just plain cobs and crisps the real ale is served straight from the barrel no fancy lagers various bottles though dates back to the 14 century and the 19th century was the last time any building parts were added. Only open certain times... usually from 12 on a weekend...
Unique old world pub. Lovely
A local friend introduced me to this fantastic Inn, we sat by the fire and were joined over a beer and cider first by the Ol Gentleman who owns the property and then by his lovely Wife. We got a brief history of the Barley Mow from the 1930's if I recall correctly. Absolutely great experience.. Have since been back with my wife! Very friendly landlady daughter I presume and the people that frequent are very social.. An Inn that oozes charm and character from the past..
This pub has been on my watchlist for a VERY long time, well worth the wait. Stripped back olde worlde pub with oodles of character, is from another age. Hand pulled beers served from a jug, cheese boards are a delight. Service we got was SO friendly, felt like we'd been going for years. It's definitely a Destination pub, just soak in its character. If able I would give it 10 stars! Enjoy. M
This is a lovely old-style pub with a good choice of real ale served from barrels stacked behind the small serving hatch. They do a very nice cheese and pickle sandwich when available.
Amazing pub! Proper old school well managed and nice friendly locals. Stayed in a cottage locally a few times over the years and love using this pub as out “local” when here
I absolutely love this pub. Beer straight out of the barrel fetched with a pitcher. Proper pub!
