Popped in for Sunday lunch and had a really nice roast. It's a strange place because when you enter it's like you've stepped through a time portal and gone back 30 years. The decor is so old fashioned from the maroon patterned carpet to the overly intricate gold framed paintings hung everywhere. This is not a criticism by the way, it actually gives the place some character and during my visit I had a warm feeling of nostalgia. Its kind of like you're having dinner at your auntie Rita's back in the day. There is a good selection of draft beers and I throughly enjoyed a pint of guest. There are plenty of options on the menu with a wide variety of dishes / cuisines, all of which are very reasonably priced. There was a choice of meats for the Sunday roast, I went for beef and wasn't disappointed. I was really impressed with how much food beef was on the plate especially as it only cost £8.50! It's worth mentioning that the food here is not fancy or flashy, it's just good honest food that feels like it's been made by your mum. We both really enjoyed it and the service was excellent too. This is probably not a place I'd recommend for a romantic meal but if you're just after some good food in a relaxed atmosphere then I'd definitely recommend.
Amazing food . Same price as pritty much any other pub. Great quality and plenty of it. Place was nice and clean. Staff friendly. Would book next time as there were a lot of reserved places. Would recommend and definitely go again . Compliments to the chef.
We shared a family meal, 10 of us before our son and his fiancee marry tomorrow. Had such a happy time, excellent food, prompt service with plenty to choose from. Our Gluten free member commented that this was the brst GF selection he'd had since being diagnosed. Thanks for helping to make more special memories.
The location of this pub is great and the setting that it is in is lovely. The building itself is quaint from the exterior and has old styling inside. The beer garden is a good size and is peaceful, there's also a bouncy castle there for the kids. There was a small selection of ales, along with lagers and other usual beverages that you'd expect to find at a pub. The menu is usual pub type food but there is quite a lot of choice. Unfortunately, the food wasn't quite the standard that I was expecting and in part, lacked a little flavour.
My family and I absolutely love this little gem, the quaintness of the pub is lovely. The food is always of a high standard and the portion sizes well...the biggest of eaters won't be disappointed, you must try the homemade apple pie with lashing of custard for your dessert. In the summer the bouncy castle in the garden is a great little treat for any family with small children. To be honest i wasnt going to say anything as we should really keep this place a little secret
Amazing place to eat, excellent service and value for money. I eat here every week and cannot fault the friendly staff and the excellent service they provide. Chef very enthusiastic about their food and can't recommend the food enough, very good value and 5 star and also set in a lovely location. David HowmanService: 5/5
Nice traditional pub. Bit dated inside but food was great. Had fish and chips. Never had such a huge fish with lovely lite batter. Very nice and great value.
Lovely pub, great pint of Carlsberg and that in itself is a massive accomplishment as it normally tastes terrible but The Hollybush pull off a miracle. It's only down fall is that it doesnt have SkySports, however if it keeps vermin like me and my mates out of here that's a great move by the management. Theres a kids play area in the beer garden with a bouncy castle, didn't have a go of it because I'm sure I'd be asked to leave but it looked like fun. Room was clean and tidy, nice coffee making facilities that I will definately need I the morning when I'm hanging out of my arse. Aesthetically it's a lovely looking country pub and would highly recommend it as the staff are friendly and very accommodating. Worth the 5 stars.
Rooms are good skittle basic but it was a very comfortable sleep Food IS outstanding for the price of the food and room I would give them a 5 out of 5. Staff are amazing well done!! Definatley coming back
New menus sampled tonight very good plenty of the old favourites on too . New chef Tony was very entertaining nice to see a chef leave the kitchen and mingle with the clients . Definitely go again !
