Just where I needed to go for a nice drink and I was not disappointed. I will definitely be back soon! The decor and ambience were very inviting. Just the type of place you can come and enjoy on these dark and cold evenings. Or in the day with a book. The directions for parking areas could be a little clearer, as it was dark, but I have no other remarks.
Had a really enjoyable meal here reasonably priced with our granddaughter service was good and the staff very pleasant, they even brought some crayons and coloring in sheet for the little one would definitely dine here again, charming Olde world style interior.
Some of the best meals I've had for ages. Generous portions for the price, good quality ingredients and a wide selection of items on the menu. Friendly staff and a reasonable environment.
I popped into this place only for a quick drink, such a great atmospheare ,really lovely ,I will return to sample their food and make a night out of it soon
Clean, warm and welcoming. Disappointed that Martini was not available. Not everything available on menu but what we had was delicious and hot - served on hot plates. We enjoyed it.
Waitress fantastic can't fault her but the special menu let the establishment down. The pulled venison and root veg pie seemed to have the venison definitely pulled from it! The chips looked like they'd been on the beach for a week. Not one to usually complain as it's the company's money, however all constructive feedback is positive feedback. Ithe company was given 20% discount. Takeaway tomorrow night
Lovely evening. I had the ribeye and my college had the wild boar. Both meals were very tasty. Maxine looked after us and was very attentive, even though it was a busy evening. A lot of restaurants would love and need a Maxine I would not hesitate to recommend the Blue Cap to friends.
Don't waste your money on the food!!!! The food was diabolical, do not eat from there. Mixed grill was just frozen and re warmed low quality, absolutely!!!! I'd have rather gone to a wetherspoons, I understand its a chain attached to a hotel, I stay in Premier inns for work all over the country, and that by far was the worst experience.... Nice atmosphere and staff were sound with me complaining, at first I didn't want to say anything but it really was trash.... Manager sorted out to not pay for mains..... Still could have done better though.... I think I'll happily never eat in there again, such a shame for a pub with such history. Left and went and got a Chinese.... Stay clear
Very busy on the day, but staff still very helpful and attentive. Food was really good all round - everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. I highly recommend the steak sandwich! Welcoming to dogs too, which was also a bonus.
Eaten here as family previously and not been disappointed. This time sadly we were. Two people ate from the normal menu and to be fair these meals were very good. One person ate from Xmas special menu and would rate this experience as two star. Prawn starter had just 3 prawns in it I had similar starter myself last week at another establishment and got 5 or 6 and reviewed with 5 star rating, the main was cod wrapped in prosciutto but they’d forgotten to wrap in prosciutto. Otherwise was nice. During each course we were asked if all was ok. We said not each time and the waitress emphasised with us but then moved on to her next table why ask if not bothered to do anything. To be fair the mince pie sundae from special menu was excellent. The two starters and two mains from normal menu were very good. After asking for bill we waited a very long time to pay and eventually gave up and paid at bar. First time in long time I left no tip after a meal. Sad as previously we’ve enjoyed eating here. Won’t rush back. The restaurant wasn’t busy either so they can’t use that reason for poor experience.
