We live in Hurst Green but have never visited The Bayley Arms until today. We were more than pleasantly surprised! Much, much, much better than your average pub food: delicious, well-prepared, well thought through dishes combined with attentive friendly service. An unexpected treat!
Popped in for a quick drink after a walk. It's in a great location, and I think it may be under new management. Sign up saying for lease with redevelopment due which the windows and sign do need, I'm sure the brewery will do this. Looses 2 stars due to the price of drinks it's Hurst Green, not London! £9 for a pint and half of lager, we paid similar in Weybridge in the South, not that it's right you pay that, but you know it's more expensive in the South. It's also not the only pub in the village, so I'm a little disappointed that they feel like they need to have sky-high prices! But I guess that's what this country is coming too consumer greed! No pictures as wasn't worthy of any as of yet. Puts a nice little pub inside, just overpriced, in my opinion.
Great little pub for a drink after walking near Hurst GreenLocation: 5/5
Considering the current situation I couldn't have asked for more. Landlady was welcoming, friendly and happy to chat. Beer was cold and needed on a lovely warm and sunny afternoon. Nice area at the back of the car park with seats and tables, proper sun trap . Seats and tables at the front of the pub on the main road but hardly any traffic, except maybe Sundays, so no worries with fumes. Definitely could become my new local, even if it is 36 miles away Edit: Seems to be back in business, excellent food menu...pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, wonderful fish and chips. Reasonable selection of beers but way too expensive...Manchester prices
Lovely pub. Dropped in for lunch. My sandwich was fresh and tasty. Unfortunately there was no gluten free bread for my friend but she enjoyed a bowl of freshly made chunky chips. Lady who is temp manager was lovely and so helpful. New manager due to take over next weekService: 4/5
Just went for a couple of drinks after a walk, the exterior of the pub looks a bit tired, but inside it's very cozy. Great service the barman carried the drinks to our table.Service: 5/5
A Google search for the Bayley Arms describes it as a 4 star hotel. To be really clear, this is not a 4 star hotel, a pub with rooms, 2 star max. I don't recognise the room from the pictures posted here. Our bed was only just off the floor, no soap in the bathroom, had to use shampoo to wash hands. We knew 2 other couples staying overnight and the reaction from all was similar. The staff at the Bayley Arms clearly work very hard, seems to be struggling like many places in the hospitality sector at the moment. The pub itself didn't open till 4:30pm on the Sunday we stayed, which was disconcerting and we were checked in basically told our room number by the chef. Didn't bother with breakfast.
Didnt getca room here, just had lunch! It was a Sunday & there were no Sunday lunch being served we decided on the steak in ale pie, it was ok but nothing special! If you are eating here, I recommend the 2 pizzas & a bottle of vino your choice for £25! Good value cheaper than our local kebab shop and very well made! The staff are lovely & friendly
Called in after doing Tolkien trail. Lovely pub Great food, good selection and reasonable prices. Bar man friendly and welcoming. The pub also does take away deals. Husband loved the real ales.
Absolutely atrocious, arrived and told it was an hour wait for the food. This was fine so we ordered a couple of packets of crisps to see us through! 1.5hrs later went in to ask about the food to be informed we hadn’t ordered anything because we’d ordered crisps so they hadn’t put our order through. Not got an issue about us, but the two kids left extremely hungry after a long walk and the promise of a pub lunch have been extremely let down. Not even sure why there was an hour wait at 3pm as it wasn’t overly busy!
