Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa

Had an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast. The hotel is in nice surroundings and has a quality feel about it. Our room was terrific - a huge suite with lots of space, a very comfortable bed and a bathroom the size of some entire hotel bedrooms! The restaurant is classy and the food is good. The restaurant was a little overwhelmed on the night of our visit - a lot of guests for a relatively small staff group to cope with. But they remained professional and attentive throughout. Breakfast was generous and tasty and good value for money. Overall, this is a very nice hotel and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

We had such a nice one night stay. After a cancellation the day before from another hotel, we thankfully found this hotel for Valentine’s Day weekend and were honestly so grateful for the hospitality we received. The spa facilities are great and we received a bottle of wine on arrival. Stunning bathrooms and huge comfy beds in a beautiful old building. The breakfast buffet was great and the dining room is comfortable. Will definitely be back. On the Friday night before we left and just after booking the hotel I emailed to ensure they’d received the booking. I had such quick correspondence from Sadie who was attentive and so helpful. She gave us a later checkout and explained how our package would work.

Stayed for 3 nights recently as the base for a coach trip. A lovely warm welcome and very speedy check in with everything ready for our arrival and keys handed out immediately. Our room 616 was very clean, quiet and spacious. We both commented on the comfy beds and complete black out of the room during the night. Exceptional food with waiter service at dinner. Tea/Coffee served to the table at breakfast which was buffet service We loved the idea of selecting our 3 course meal for the following night. A special mention of Joseph in the restaurant who was charming and so helpful. Without question all staff were polite, professional and helpful. An asset to the company. Our only disappointment was not seeing all the Christmas decorations go up before we left. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Although our room was upgraded on arrival, unfortunately a double bed was within the room when twin was booked. The receptionist was very quick to find a further room, however one of the Queen beds within was uncomfortable down to the mattress as it felt like the springs were coming through which ultimately led to not having a good night's rest. The food on offer was beautiful for the evening meal, yet felt the breakfast buffet although plentiful, could have been warmer. The staff throughout our visit were pleasant and polite and acknowledged our comments with genuine concern. The spa, although not directly under the hotel, we commented upon the pool being cool, the changing rooms were cold and the spinner for costumes out of order. No robes or slippers were supplied even when part of the package. However the treatment area was lovely with a varied rooms available and plenty of space to enjoy.

We loved the hotel. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room and bathroom were fantastic. We had everything we needed and more and it was very clean. The pool and steam rooms plus the gym were an extra bonus. Loved our stay and will definitely be backRooms: 5/5

Good location, close to motorway, easy to find. Stuff was very friendly, room was spotless clean. Food in the restaurant tasted good, wide selection of alcohol in the bar. Spa facilities nice as well including : pool, steam rooms, sauna, jacuzzi. We came here to spend my husbands birthday, overall very satisfied. definitely recommend, and looking forwards to come back.

Got a package through secret escapes. A night in an executive room, 3 course meal and breakfast. We enjoyed the spa facilities thoroughly. The 3 course meal was excellent, good selection to choose from. Breakfast was a buffet, everything was good quality and there was plenty of choice. I would definitely stay here again.Rooms: 5/5

Fantastic evening meal. Room lovely. Robes provided. Breakfast was a let down and super busy. If the hotel is busy they would be better to book breakfast times. Staff awesome. Drinks expensive. £26 for two double gins. Grounds stunning, great location.Rooms: 5/5

Fantastic Bed breakfast & dinner package - excellent value. We were in a fabulous executive room - big enough for a party!!!!!!! Dinner was the best meal I have had in any restaurant - tender, tasty beef, buttery mash, perfectly cooked vegetables - sadly too full for dessert. Breakfast was perfectly cooked to order and piping hot on hot plates + a great buffet selection. Loved the spa though I am a member so I suppose I'm biased. All the hotel staff are great - friendly and professional - a credit to the manager. Thank You

After returning for the third time on Saturday we found the hotel wasn't its usual standard. We paid for bed breakfast and dinner package. Room was nice a few dated bits but overall had a comfortable night sleep, paid extra for pillaged room nothing extra like mini fridge that we had last time. The restaurant food was of high standard last few times we've been we as this time was like a school dinner soup, sausage and mash and sticky toffee pudding. Not a great choice, drinks very over priced but I suppose this is how they make there money. Not the usual pleasant staff we saw last few times either feel like cut backs are being made. A shame but would put us off returning.
