This truly is the best pub in London. Been going for years. Just had my bday there and Jimmy was so accommodating and the Atmos was amazing. Big shout to Michelle behind the bar. The beer is good, they sell Taytos and it's a real neighbourhood pub. Old school, has an individual feel too it.
Dalston Kingslandn £5.50 Amsteln One of the best pubs in London.n.nI have visited The Army & Navy a few times over the years, usually on my way to see The Arsenal. My last visit was on St Patrick’s Day back in March this year. Getting here is easy, Dalston Kingsland station is a just five minute walk away.n.nThis pub was built in the 1930’s by AE Sewell who was Truman Breweries principal architect. The pub retains many original features, is Grade II listed and is designed in a Neo Georgian style.n.nThe decor oozes oldschool charm and the environment is welcoming and comfortable. There is a proper pub carpet, a good size bar, velour banquette bench seating, a dart board and for good measure, throw in a few TV’s showing live sport. One of the best features of this pub is the massive beer garden. There are loads of covered booths, TV’s showing live sport and also a new addition is the outdoor bar.n.nThe beer selection is straight up reasonably priced keg options, there are a few craft beers available and the Guinness is well celebrated. The pub has recently teamed up with pizza gurus @yardsalepizza , so now you can have pizza delivered to the pub.n.nThe atmosphere here is always warm and friendly, the pub attracts a broad crowd from all walks of life rather than just one demographic. This is down to Jimmy the Guv’nor who has been at the helm for the past 26 years and looks after his punters one and all. Jimmy gave me a tour of the pub and was telling me about how much work had gone in to the beer garden, which looks great.n.nThe Army & Navy is one of my favourite pubs in London as it ticks so many boxes. There is the architectural heritage, old school decor, reasonably priced beer, a superb beer garden, welcoming atmosphere and the nicest Guv’nor you’ll ever meet. If you’ve not visited yet and want to experience how a pub should be, then put The Army & Navy at the top of your must visit pub list.n.nℹ Info correct on visiting 17.03.23
Great pub to watch the football assuming you book a table.nMany of the tables in the garden sit empty but reserved until kick off, whilst everyone else is made to stand around the empty tables. It’s ridiculous. It’s a pub, not a Michelin star restaurant, you don’t need to be reserving tables for wankers who show up 2 minutes before kick off.
If I could give it 10 stars I would !! We have lived here for 3 years and Jimmy the landlord is the biggest legend ever. We have danced, laughed and cried here. The best nights of my life, this pub has seen it all and we are forever grateful for the memories made. Love you Army and Navy
The garden is so lovely. The heating is so cool. Staff are so lovely she even remembered what beers we had ordered previously. Would definitely return.
