Station is pretty much a stone's throw away from the busier Huyton but it's decent enough on its own if you can tolerate the poor service provided by Northern's poor quality of service. All platforms are connected by a subway with lifts and there are typically trains to Liverpool, Manchester and Wigan from here. Basic seating and shelter is provided on all platforms too. Useful when having to wait for your inevitably delayed train home.
A very pleasant village. I fell in love with the Church on church Road. The walk from Roby train station was memorable. I have been inspired to go back to exploring my own beautiful country. For decades I have roamed abroad. I almost forgot what I experienced from Carlisle to Cardiff : from Manchester to London and the Isle of Wight. Newcastle. Hadrians Wall. Newcastle to Sheffield. every time i pass this stop on the train bound for liverpool lime street, i am overwhelmed with emotion. the sign that reads roby and the voice of the announcer saying the magic words...’we are now arriving at roby’.... i can’t begin to describe that feeling. also my great aunty got pregnant in the bushes near here, or as we affectionally call it: The Roby Folliage. my favourite station by far. fabulous. 5 stars doesn’t do it justice.
