Easy access to the trains whether it's the start or end of your journey or you're changing trains. Clean platform can be a bit windswept that probably gives it that just 'swept' look.
This station reminds me of simple times with my partner with only the slight hint of piss. Beautiful. Never change.
Good interchange station, quieter to change lines here than either Liverpool Central or Moorfields, although you're not guaranteed a seat when you get on the train, even during off peak times if you do change here. Plenty of shelter and seating although not always available to use. There is a toilet however there seems to permanently be an out of order sign on it. Location is decent for the Liverpool and Leeds Canal about 5-10 minute walk away. Be careful on Liverpool and Eveton matchdays as the stadium bus runs from this station which means it does get very busy.
Hi, I have nothing but fond memories of sandhills interchange station. E.g. mostly match day experiences. I often get straight off the train from Moorfields walk with the reds to the soccer bus. Always feels safe, never seems to be much of a wait to go back to central & staff have always been extremely friendly.
Merseyrail train station on the Northern Line. Fairly modern looking. Two platforms. Place to change for Southport, Ormskirk and Kirkby branches. A couple of enclosed waiting rooms and some benches on the platforms. Lots of CCTV cameras. Good view of the Everton stadium being built nearby.
Mainly used as an interchange station, you see more people getting off here to get onto a different train than to leave the station. The station gets the highest number of services outside which sees it a large place for trainspotters, however it is also a large hub for smokers too. There is lots of litter on the platforms and on the tracks, despite bins being available... The station sees frequent trains to Liverpool, Hunts Cross for trains to Warrington and Manchester, Southport For trains to Wigan and Manchester, Ormskirk For trains to Preston and Kirkby For trains to Wigan, Manchester, Rochdale and Blackburn If you want to use Sandhills station you have to choose between standing with groups of chavs arguing with the Byelaw Enforcement Officers, or stand with smokers at the end of the platform
Main station change for; Southport Ormskirk and Kirby lines. You can also walk to Liverpool football stadium or catch the soccer bus.
If only all railway stations were this good - a suoerb piece of modern architecture perfectly marrying form with function and trains every few minutes to/from Liverpool city centre. Lift up to ticket office at concourse level and enclosed waiting rooms very necessary in winter due to its exposed location. Lack of a car park the only major drawback and vending machine drinks perhaps a little overpriced.
Train station.... No shop but it's ok
This station is very well laid out however, the sliding doors to the heated shelters do not work meaning that one has to struggle opening the doors which are not designed to be opened by hand. If you are waiting here early morning then expect the heated shelters to actually not be heated. This station could do so much better.
