OUTSTANDING RATING regarding quality and care for patients and deservedly so. I had an appointment here yesterday. My first visit to this hospital, gynaecological dept. Every person, from the receptionist to the doctor I saw were wonderful. Everywhere was calm and all the professionals I came across smiled at me, making me feel extremely comfortable. I was seen right on time at 11am. I have never been seen on time at any hospital in London. The lady doctor I saw was absolutely brilliant. Kind and caring with a warm personality. She was also incredibly professional carrying out an excellent examination, explaining everything along the way and answered all my questions. THANK YOU SO MUCH for making a 'challenging' appointment so easy. You are a wonderful hospital
First-time mum here : I had an amazing experience at Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital Birth Centre. Midwives Liliana and the other lady sorry, I forgot her name who were with me during labour were absolutely wonderful—very professional, kind, and encouraging. I only used gas and air, and I took advantage of the bathtub when my contractions were at their peak. During the pushing stage, which lasted quite some time, I was encouraged to try many different positions, which was really helpful. Lucy did an amazing job post-labour ; I didn’t have any medical interventions, even though my labour was not an easy one! It was all thanks to the absolute professionalism of the midwives. The aftercare was also incredible. I just thought my experience might be useful to others!
can’t fault the hospital. The care is amazing there, I felt properly taken care of by all the staff and even though my labour was far from perfect due to emergency c section I would definitely recommend the maternity care Queen Charlotte. They make sure you feel comfortable and rooms have some privacy, they listen to you and even though they are busy, they are still very helpful and accommodating.
Had a great experience at this hospital. All three midwives, Aisha, Precious and Portia were amazing and put me at ease. My labour and birth went smoothly and I delivered a healthy and happy baby. Wouldn't have been able to do it without the care I received. Thank you!
My wife completed 40 weeks today. And sitting in chair for 12 hours waiting for doctor to see. This hospital and midwives has no empathy for pregnant women. Its so hard to understand how this hospital has outstanding rating. There is not a single moment we found that it is anwhere close to good. The midwife, we had, was threatening us to send us to another hospital which has bad rating. We were scared of her because every single time she was rude and harsh on us. Scared us. The maternity day assessment unit, they don’t even understand the meaning of emergency assessment. And asked us to wait 3 hours before a midwife can talk and do the checkup. We had a horrible experience so far. Ill keep updating my review with experience. Eventually we had to wait 7 hours to see a doctor. We are back again here, and again waiting for 6 hours already and no sign of doctor. The screenshot about waiting time is a lie.
Thank you again for all the amazing midwives at QC, thank you to the amazing birth centre team! 9 years ago I had a wonderful experience and that haven’t failed me again this time. Massive thank you to Valentina & Elissa, Nia, Andrea and Ana! Such a pleasant experience! So grateful to them all. Thank you to all the midwives from 2015 as well Thank you QC for helping me bring two amazing children to the world
Worst hospital to give birth at!!! I called the maternity triage at 2 in the morning when my water broke at 41 weeks The midwife on the call asked me to come over to the maternity day assessment unit so we can do some observation and monitor baby's heartbeat. At the hospital I waited three hours for the doctor and the doctor convinced me to stay in the hospital and get the induction started as at 41 weeks the placenta isn't quite working like before and they need to monitor the baby. prioritising the health of my baby i decided to get induced and the nightmare started since 6am till 3pm in the afternoon me and my husband sat in the triage waiting area waiting for a bed space to become available in the Lewis suite ward. During that time I started having some really strong contractions and At 3 they did my CTG and asked me to wait further as there was still no bed space available. When we finally got a bed space my contractions spaced out. Got into Lewis suite at around 4 and my first dose of induction was started at 6 in the evening. It had been over 16 hours of being in pain and tiredness of sitting on the chairs around the hospital. After 3-4 doses of labour inducing medicine my very worst kind of unbearable contractions kicked in at around 3 in the morning and they came together quite quickly. I was having a contraction every 2-3 minute apart and they were so strong that i couldn't sit stand walk or talk through them. I told the midwifes on duty 2-3 times about my contractions being so close by and so unbearable but they did nothing about it. since the time I came into the hospital nobody once checked my cervix or confirmed weather it was my waters that broke or not! Around 7 in the morning when my dose almost ended and my concentration also spaced out. The doctor finally came to see me at 10 and announced since I am sitting without crying in pain or screaming in agony I must not even one centimetre dilated and they will need to put me on oxytocin drip for my contractions to actually start, So I had to wait again to get a room in labour ward, there started my wait again. We finally got the labour room at 6:30 that evening and during that time I stared having contraction again, so we waited for midwifes came around at 8 and when they saw my CTG they were surprised to see that I was having regular contractions "surprise surprise". Both the midwives were really really nice and these 2 were the very first positive thing that happened to me the entirety of my hospital stay. Waiting for the oxytocin drip my contractions were naturally becoming stronger and asked to an epidural, the epidural administration also failed and had to get epidural administered twice and even after second time I think the epidural didn't worked as I was feeling all the pains. I gave birth to my baby girl at 6:30am and right after giving birth to her I almost passed out as I felt I was going to die and turned out I lost around 2 litres of blood and my body being in stress for over 48 hours gave up. I've no idea how I survived the delivery of my baby at this hospital that even after a whole month I am still traumatised
I had the most amazing birth experience I could ever imagine. The team at the birth centre were incredibly supportive and caring and I am absolutely greatful to all of them, specially to Christine Frank who was a star and helped me to deliver my baby boy. From my arrival to birth centre till the moment i held my baby for the first time Christine was amazing supporting and reassuring me. I had my dream come true of having a natural delivery thanks to these incredible team! Definitely they made a difference in my experience! Thank you!!!
Everything was Better than expected given the staff shortages/strains the NHS has been facing recently. Pre-birth the experience was amazing, staff super attentive and lovely honestly left us in awe of them. Post birth - being sent to the Edith Dare ward… may aswell call it hell ward - it was an absolute disaster. Staff show little to no attention to detail, lack communication Between one another & lack duty of care midwives they say…. I shouldn’t have to be the one seeking constant information on where we stand on our personal situation. I shouldn’t have to ask what’s going on, what’s next, when to be expected to be discharged. Honestly it’s absolutely ridiculous. Just to paint the picture, post birth they put you in one room, with 4 other women/partners who also are there with their babies… you can hear the calls, the crying, loud talking, snoring, loads of family members visiting when really, the women who have given birth should be able to rest as well as the baby… instead it’s a roller coaster of noise which induces utter exhaustion. How can you expect to recover in that environment and be in optimal condition to leave the hospital… There were cases where I would also have to ask for the midwives to ask what’s next for them to tell me about single required checks that are required when they had already been actioned - which would be news to them hence bad communication between them. Even things like mistaking baby conditions, and adding the wrong details to your baby file I’m talking absolute basic requirements of the role it’s a joke. To be told one thing and wait to then be told something completely different after, no communication after any checks, they walk away and treat the women like cattle. We are not statistics, we are living people. It hurts me to say all this as this was meant to be one of the best days of our lives but we are close to leaving on a traumatic stressful level - I can’t wait to get the Mrs home so her and the baby can finally manage to rest up which they should have done here instead of being held almost hostage and not understanding why the whole time & constantly having to seek reasoning. Please be careful future mothers out there, be wary.
The wait to get onto the labour ward is really tough, as is the wait for the anaesthetist. But once on it, the staff were comforting and effective and enabled my partner to have a positive outcome despite terrible pain. I'd also highly recommend staying a night in the Sir Stanley Clayton ward - you might even be able to claim it against health insurance as overnight accommodation for the hospitalisation of a child, if you're lucky.
