My son and I had a great experience at the Hospital. Yes, it did take us about 2 hrs from start to finish but he was thoroughly assessed with first rate knowledgeable staff. The volunteers that are around also help everyone greatly and add to a very pleasant conducive atmosphere … thanks especially to volunteers Susanna and Carol on her first day and to the Dr’s , Nurses and Pharmacy staff
Lovely staff but almost impossible to get seen, visited four times before being referred Visit 1- visited on the request of Chelsea Westminster, got told to go home, we've turned off the machine you need at 5pm Visit 2- visited on the request of my opticians got seen but ultimately got turned away again for the same reason despite arriving before 5:00 Visit 3 - returned again on the advice of another opticians and two more hospitals, got told we'll see you for the OCT tomorrow despite being told over the phone they wouldn't see me and would send me to another hospital/to my GP. Visit 4 - initially got told I'd probably need to go back to my GP for a referral, at this point I understandably got upset and insisted on being seen, showing them the two separate referals from two separate optitians, too which I did finally get the Oct scan I needed as well as a referral, their retina specialist seemed quite concerned and told me I'd bee seen within a week I now have my appointment however this is for three weeks time! Called the number on the letter and had zero response despite being told I'd get a call. Several people I've seen in this time are shocked we're shocked at this and couldn't understand why I hadn't been seen. And now I'm being made to wait three weeks for a supposed "emergency" appointment while my eye deteriorates. Looking at reviews here there unfortunately seems to be a theme here of turning people away that need help and delaying important appointments
The staff are kind and very useful but the only issue I have is the extremely long wait. This really irritated me as I had somewhere to be afterward, but don’t let this distract the fact that the staff are amazing and are helping with my issue!
My mum was referred here and I accompanied her to her appointment. The waiting time to be seen was very short, and the staff who dealt with my mum were absolutely wonderful. They were so patient and nice and were mostly very cheerful. My mum is elderly and hard of hearing and they took time to explain everything to her clearly. It was busy there but the staff all seemed to take it in their stride and with smiles on their faces.
Very poor first impression. This isn't an overall review of my experience as I'm sure there are many team at this hospital who are a pleasure to come across. whoever is on the main entrance reception desk August 10th 15:00 is incredibly rude and his behaviour needs managing and adjusted considering he is the first point of contact for majority of visiting patients. I barely finished saying I had been referred when he abruptly interrupted and told me to go upstairs. His tone aggressive, manner abusive and irritated and looked back down at his mobile while pointing me in the direction of the stairs. I replied that there was no need for his rudeness to which he stated in a raised voice "I've just told you where to go so just go like I told you" Nobody wants to spend an afternoon in a hospital, this experience on arrival makes it even more miserable and for some would may make the patients treat the actual caregivers as they had just been treated. This person needs behavioural training or put in a non public facing role where he is closely managed.
I was admitted the first time as an emergency patient on the 18th May 2023 with a retina detachment. Everyone was very nice and super professional. Everything went smoothly and quickly. On the same day I was scheduled for surgery and operated. Everything went well during post op. I was discharged after a few more visits and check ups.
I had to go to A&E due to a referral from my optician of flashing lights. I was assessed quickly and had dilation drops shortly after. I then waited 3 hours to see doctor. I was lucky really as later the wait time had increased to 5 hours. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable. This hospital much easier to get to than Moorfields so I'm glad I had the option to visit here. I guess the waiting time is only a fraction of a main hospital A&E and it was worthwhile going as a dangerous condition was diagnosed.
In/out in under 3 hours on a unexpected super busy Sunday 19.05.24. Staff were amazing from the security officer, through the administrative and medical staff. A well managed service with the Matron supervising and helping out with the triage, as well as informing patients of the lengthy waiting time. Friendly, professional and good explanation of my eye test results and all questions I put forward to them.
Caring staff working miracles with limited resources. I had a chemical burn on my eye and was seen quickly, treated and given medication to take home in 3.5 hours. Thank you so much.
Great hospital it is. This week I came here as walk in to get my eye checked. The waiting time didn't take that long and it took under just under hour and 30 mins. The nurses and doctors are friendly and don't rush to check what problem you got, they make sure it's checked properly. I recommend this hospital if you have any problem with your eyes or around you eyes.
