Stayed two nights either side of our wedding. The Prestonfield's reputation is second to none and is so deserved. For all the elegance and classic ambience it is the staff who really make your stay worthwhile. Polite, respectful yet always friendly but  without the obsequiousness that can marr the experience. Will be back.

A beautiful house and setting, we booked for a Sunday lunch set menu which was very reasonable. The dark gothic decor is gorgeous and light classical music played in the background whilst we enjoyed our lunch. Service was very good and most staff bent over backwards to accommodate.

Prestonfield house is a beautiful opulent hotel but with a country house feel. The grounds are stunning and the service impeccable. Great as a wedding venue or for a special meal

attending a wedding in the stables part, was very luxurious and the grounds themselves are amazing with stunning views. the bar however has a terrible selection of drinks and is very pricey

Enchanting place. Great food. On arrival the service was spot on however, didn't continue to be so throughout our stay. Lovely staff but we booked a dinner at the rhubarb restaurant, which was a part of our wedding present from our friends. We were taken to this little private room in between the floors. Lovely view but no music and a bit cold at first. We were brought a speaker after a while with a cd in it that had only few songs on and was replaying them throughout the whole time we were there (nearly 3hrs). We didn't have one waiter/waitress, we had around 6 different staff coming in and out. After the dessert it seemed that we were forgotten as we were sat in this room for 40minutes unattended. We decided to go back to the restaurant's reception and had to wait further to find someone in order to pay. When we found the manager we were asked if we had booked a table... When we said that we were unattended for over 40min there were no apologies but he gave us the bill. Again the dinner should have been included but apparently the restaurant within the hotel didn't communicate with the hotel's reception... In the end we sorted it. We also mentioned the situation at the check out and the receptionist was very emotionless and said that she will pass it on and proceeded to give us the bill for the drinks we had at the meal. 
At the arrival we were also asked if we wanted a newspaper every morning and we said 'no'... So we received a newspaper every morning. Just a waste. 
Again lovely hotel and the grounds surrounding it. Amazing quality of food. Service should improve.
