My husband and I had afternoon tea here and everything was delicious. They have a nice selection of teas. Everything we ate tasted fresh. Some of the combinations were new and interesting to us! We are from the United States and have had afternoon tea in various cities there, so we were very excited to visit Edinburgh and try afternoon tea here. We were not disappointed! I loved seeing the cows outside too!
I would not recommend the afternoon tea. The level of service left me feeling completely ignored.nnWe had a reservation and were seated in the tapestry room. We were offered water, which never materialized. Our tea was delivered but following that we received no food. There were no staff around to inquire about it. After a literal hour not exaggerating someone came by and noticed we hadn't been served. When our food subsequently arrived, we had to remind them that they forgot our amuse bouche. As a final insult when we were ready to leave, we waited a long time with no staff in sight to request our bill. We eventually wandered downstairs and flagged down a random staff member to pay. Throughout this no one apologized, and we were still suggested to leave a tip.nnThe positive: The house and grounds are beautiful. The staff at the front of the hotel treated us kindly. The food and tea were great.
We stayed here Friday the 9th for the weekend. I was blown away with how beautiful this place was. From start to finish, staff were so attentive to your needs.nThe room we had was so luxurious, and what made it even more delightful was the little touches. Truffles and fresh cookies in the room. Champagne on ice on both days. The full Scottish breakfast was so delicious. We had a wonderful meal on the Saturday evening. A lovely young lady called Meg was an absolute delight. Very helpful and attentive. All staff are an absolute credit to the place. I can't wait to return. Thank you for making the stay such a wonderful experience.
Beautiful hotel with stunning views.nThe staff couldn't be any more helpful.nThe attention to detail in the hotel & rooms is spot on nThe food was fantastic. 10/10! cocktails too. Lovely rooms to enjoy then in. Also a small area leads to outside the front so you can enjoy them on a terrace.nWe stayed two nights & wanted to walk up Arthur's seat which is accessible from the hotel by a short walk.nOverall this is a lovely place, would love to come again.
I stayed there with my two cats for two nights at the end of March for two nights - best experience ever! They welcomed me and my cats, everywhere is just so pretty to take photos. My cats loved it there so much that they actually refused to leave!nnBreakfast was also delicious, had the best muffin ever! As I have cats with me, the staff kindly offered me a whole tea room for breakfast so kitties can run around freely.nnStaff are all very friendly, they constantly offered to help me carry my luggage, and I received more cookies when I expressed my preference. You get fresh water everyday.nnOverall the experience was just super amazing, and I'd definitely come back for another stay!
