Crowded rooms which have bunkbeds that are only suitable for a child with the narrow ladders and climbing spaces. We had a larger, long bathroom which was a good change of pace from smaller ones I have seen. The whole hostel was noisy because of the people, but I guess some people just don't care about others. The location of the hostel is prime, right in the center of Portree. With a beautiful view onto the Red and Black Cuillin mountains. Walkability: Right in the heart of Portree
Amazing location and great accommodations! My university group rented out the entire hostel and had a great experience. The rooms were clean, the common areas were nice, and the staff were extremely hospitable. A special shout out to Stewart, who went above and beyond to help me recover a journal I left at the hostel. Can't thank him enough!
This hostel was nice and had a lovely view. There was an en-suite bathroom with a shower. We were mainly just here for the night, but the beds were comfy and the location was perfect. Very friendly staff.Rooms: 4/5
Great location right on the water. Nice place to watch sunrise. I stayed in a private double ensuite room with ample heat and hot water. Walkability: Can walk anywhere in Portree. Close to grocery stores. Food & drinks: Full kitchen available and many restaurants nearby.
I stayed here last October. My room was lovely with an onsuite shower room, comfortable double bed and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Everything was clean with huge well equipped kitchen and lovely common room. Great vibe there in a fantastic location. A great find. Food & drinks: Portree has a huge range of eateries to choose from.
Room was as expected for a hostel but the shower wasn't draining properly. The person at the front went up and fixed it, which made a big improvement. End of June our room was very humid, poor air flow room 17. Excellent location. Getting a bit dated but overall it was a great place to hang our hats, since we weren't going to be in our rooms much. Having a double bed with ensuite was nice. Walkability: Downtown Portree Food & drinks: Near restaurants and walking distance to grocery. Kitchen on site for use and you can store your food in the fridge and your own bin for dried goods.
We didn't book a room, we just came by asking for a shower. The girl at the reception was extremely kind, the common room was clean and well maintained, with a wonderful view on the bay. Just by making a donation we were allowed to use the services. The bathroom and the shower are little but comfortable, and that's what we needed. Thanks again
Well equipped kitchen, fantastic views from the comfortable lounge, staff really nice and helpful. Beds were comfortable and the place was clean and warm. Only moan is, the stupid table in the private room should be replaced with a set of drawers. It would serve the same purpose as the table, which is to hold the kettle and cups, but would give you somewhere to put clothes or other belongings as there is nowhere to put anything apart from the chair, so you can't sit on it, or the floor. There's 2 tiny hooks on the back of the door and 2 of the same in the damp bathroom because of the steam from the shower, not damp at in mouldy and that's it.
I stayed here whilst I explored Skye over the length of a weekend. It is a cracking hostel; the location is 10/10, close to all amenities. The views from the shared lounge area are sublime. The shared kitchen is one of the better ones I have used over the years. The bedrooms were spacious, clean, safe and comfortable. A fantastic spot and a brilliant launchpad for any exploring you'd like to do on Skye!
Stayed in the private rooms. Beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Location is right near the city square, close to the bus terminal and lots of restaurants and and shops. Ken was very friendly and helpful during our stay.Rooms: 5/5
