We arrived around dinnertime on a saturday. The place was packed but despite this, we were seated in less than 5 minutes. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was very good and we didn't have to wait long. I had the tower of haggis and a venison burger daily special both of which were tasty. The side of carrots with honey is also highly recommended. Worth a visit if you can get a table.
The rating refers only to the restaurant: The Isles Inn is located directly at the small bus station in Portree. It is a beautiful and typical mixture of Scottish pub and restaurant. Very friendly people, good beers and a large selection of whisky round off the typical and delicious cuisine. Like many others that day, I opted for fish and chips - a great choice.
Food was worth the wait. I had the steak and ale pie which was fantastic and also dairy free even the mashed potatoes!. Mom had the chicken. Both of us were sad to eat the last bite. Finished it off with the vegan chocolate torte which was also incredible.
We only had dinner. Waited an hour for a table for 4. Can't fault them, too many people at Portree in the summer. Fish and chips were good, but the chicken, though tasty, the portion is so small it doesn't justify the price. Service is good even though they are so busy
You cannot book the restaurant. We saw the queue on our arrival at Portree and thought this place must be good also we looked at reviews. Our second night in Portree we got to the pub at 530 to make sure we got a tablenIt was great to have a beer while we waited unfortunately our meals were not great 2 of the 3 pies were dry and inedible. The chicken was dry too. Management were very kind and gave us 1 meal free which was very nice and not expected. Try somewhere else.
