Islands and Highlands Cottages is a local letting agency, successfully marketing a beautiful selection of self-catering holiday cottages on the Isle of Skye, Outer Hebrides, and West Coast Scotland.

As the only truly local letting agency, we pride ourselves in offering a personal, honest and informed service. Our offices are run by local people who know and love the area, and can happily offer in-depth knowledge about every cottage.

I've booked a cottage through Islands & Highlands on the 1st of October 2017 for the end of July 2018, so well in advance. One month later I came across a more suitable accommodation for me and my family, so I have decided to cancel the booking. As it was still 8 months before arrival day I was sure I would get the £160 deposit back or at least part of it. My request was rejected based on their terms and conditions. Other agents with this long notice would negotiate a refund as a good will gesture. Not Islands & Highlands! It felt like a rip off to be honest. Ps. Even better... I just confirmed my cancellation and have received following reply: Dear Tomasz, We are sorry you won't be able to visit us on 28th July 2018. As per our terms and conditions, we are unable to refund you for the booking. If you have cancelled 10 or more weeks in advance of the arrival date, only the deposit and booking fee paid are non-refundable. If you cancel within 10 weeks of the arrival date, the full balance of the booking is non-refundable. You may be able to make a claim through any holiday or travel insurance policy you have, or through Booking Protect if this was purchased at the time of booking. Please keep us in mind for any future getaways. Kind Regards .... Islands and Highlands Cottages This means if you forgot to cancel 10 weeks before arrival date they will make you pay full balance. Avoid!!!
