This place was overpriced with no breakfast. I remember I put a 7 out of 10 in booking and the owner sent me a private message saying that I wouldn’t find anything more cheaper than this and that I ate all the cookies/juice from the room which were included supermarket stuff that doesn’t arrive to 5 eur but this is not the point I have travelled a lot and never seen that in my life. Respect the guest opinions correct or not is the first thing that needs to be learnt. This is one of the few 1 star scores that I submit which is truly deserved.
Really good location. No breskfast, but a place just round the corner. No parking, but parked just round the corner. The Lower Deck, down in the harbour, is an amazing place for dinnerRooms: 5/5
We arrived in portree looking for a room for 1 night, we knocked on the door of Braeside and Ruth owner answered , She was super friendly , easy going a fab host so much so we stayed another night. Ruth gave us great advice on what to see on the island.Excellent location , Great facilities , Good sized room, nice n warm , good lighting. We would highly recommend and we will be back. This was my second accomodation in Portree, as I had decided shortly before my trip to prolong my stay and my first accomodation was booked after my initial trip time. So in the morning, I left my luggage at the previous accomodation and joined a lovely Skye tour with the SkyeBus amazing experience, so I opted for a late check-in. I arrived a couple minutes late, barely back from the tour and drenched in lovely Skye rain, but the owner answered immediately. Upon hearing that I had luggage somewhere else, she insisted I not go out in the rain again and drove me to the old place to retrieve the bag - thank you so much for that, Ruth, you were an angel! As mentioned in the description, careful if you have heavy luggage or any condition that prevents you from climbing steps! The rooms at the top of the stairs are lovingly decorated boutique style and there are little deco touches here and there that make it seem like a home. Place was clean and comfy and warm I needed that after hiking through rain!. If you need to check out early, you can just lock the door and return the key via the mail slit, so it is really uncomplicated and you can leave in time for your tours, treks or connections. Location is as central as can be, just two corners away from the main square / bus station. Lots of places to eat around, just make sure you book, as Portree is busting at the seams with tourists and can barely feed them all at the same time. If you luck out or are too tired, there is a Co-Op just across the street that has open until pretty late and also very early, if you need to grab a bite for the road. Also from basically up the street of the property is the start of the Scorrybreac Walk, if you are looking for nice sceneries around Portree itself. All in all, a good experience!
I booked this accommodation a long time ago in anticipation of a trip to Scotland. The Corona virus prevents me from traveling there, but the b&b would not refund my money. Very disheartening. I understand that it's hard on the travel industry. I live in New Orleans. I get that. But this seemed just unacceptably unreasonable.Service: 1/5
We stayed here in late November, we felt that our room was great value for money. It was so close to all the amenities, it was clean, the WiFi code was accessible and the shower was excellent.
