Great location. Staff very polite. Rooms a bit tired but great sea view. Nice breakfast. Checkout at 10 am is a bit early. I would stay there again.Rooms: 4/5
Awful, on first appearance, it looks lovely, however its not. Our room was on the ground floor out the back down a corridor, which was cold and damp and smelt of toilets. The room was a twin as requested, but that's as far as it went when it comes to delivering on expectations. The heat was off, and the window was open. The very small, very dusty storage heater was the only heating in the old, dark, smelly room. The carpet was old and worn, the linen was thin, and the duvets were cheap and thin. The bathroom was dirty and old. I complained and was told i couldn't move as they were fully booked. I was given a small portable heater by reception to heat the room. Too de-stress i though'Tea, I'll have a nice cup of tea' but no, there was no tea we were told, the next guests were told there was no tonic for gin and no giner beer so were given shots..... it was just hilarious. I complained again and was brought tea by reception, who looked very overworked. She then charged us for tea tea. I complained again and finally was offered a different room as I asked for a full refund and wanted to leave. The next room was nicer and cleaner marginally, but i had to share a bed with my mum. It ruined a lovely day. We didn't get an apology. Nothing came our way other than a rather stressed receptionist who looked like she'd had enough of the complaints for the day. Rooms: Awful, dirty, cold, smelly. Really very poor. Nearby activities: Great place, lovely town, lots to do and eat. Great fish and chips.
From check in till we left we did not enjoy our experience. The front desk was not as helpful as I would have liked and their knowledge about the local town and where to eat and where to go was very limited. We thought we were getting rooms at the hotel with the pretty view- but since we got family rooms they put us in a motel style rooms behind the back parking lot. The TV didn't work, bed was not comfy and the toilet ran all night. The breakfast was not stock well when we showed up 30 minutes after it opened. All the amenities we booked the hotel for were closed. the pool and the globe to dine in in the front of the hotel of the 5 different places we stayed at across the UK this was the worst. I'll give it to them that they know how to market and show their best side in the bookings. I would not recommend and would not stay here again. Thank heavens we only stayed one night. Walkability: Close walk to the town along a gorgeous path with view of the ocean.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel in the month of April 2024. Staff was really helpful and did a great job. Family rooms are located at the back. It's hardly 10 min walk from the station. They do have an indoor pool.Rooms: 4/5
The location is perfect...the rest...could be updated. The hotel is from another era...Now the reason why I am writing this review it is also because I saw someone else mention the water pressure issue with a similar attitude of the staff...The staff at reception and the maintenance team...well apart from the woman I encountered the 1st night and the 1st morning same person, it was not great...I booked a whole trip with different locations. I was booked for 2 nights in this hotel. I had a single room with breakfast. The room was ok. Great size with a bath, teapot, coffee and tea with snacksin the room, so just what I wanted. Here comes the issue. No water pressure in the shower when using the hot water. I was already in the shower when I noticed the issue. I did what I could with it. In the morning, it was even worse. So I decided to mention it to the reception. I did and I was out the whole day so they had time to fix it. I came back at the end of the day. The reception said that it was fixed. It is the first thing I checked. Surprise surprise, something was changed not fixed. And the pressure was still bad. I went back to the reception to mention it. 1st answer: "let me check again because the maintenance said that they fixed it". My answer: "Sure ! Go ahead! ". And that is when it became interesting. The person from reception tried to make something...I do not know what maybe negotiating with me or make me say that I was wrong or something. Anyway, I maintainted that the pressure was bad. I made the mistake to mention that I wanted to wash my hair curly hair, so I need the pressure. She talk to someone on the phone and I could not understand the language. But in the end, I was offered another room but they wanted me to confirm that I was ok with it...Ha ! The room was on the other side from the 1st one, bigger and with a sea view...Surprise surprise again, the pressure was on steroid. I clearly asked the member of staff, if she agreed with me that the 2 pressures were completely different. She nodded like when you want to say to someone "suuuuurree keep talking". I told her that I could tell that she doesn't believe me. She tried to convince me with her response, but I give up to try to explain the situation again. I had what I wanted, i.e. water pressure. I changed room. I came back to the reception to give my previous key. The other member of staff asked me if everything was ok now. I said "sure, now that I have water pressure". I tried to explain to her that the pressure is completely different between the 2 rooms. Same attitude where you could clearly feel that she did not believe me nor the facts. Same attitude that you give to a customer you try to get read of, and she had the "good" idea to mention my hair again. Bad faith from the staff or not. I do not think that it is a coincidence that the water pressure is better in the nicest part of the hotel where you have the rooms with the sea view, and the elevator BTW compared to where my 1st room was i.e. view on the parking lot and with a regular size. If this feedback can help another customer in the future !
Great location, friendly and professional staff and a clean well kept room. Great breakfast too. I cannot understand why this hotel has received such bad reviews.Rooms: 5/5
- We couldn't shower properly as the shower hose was half-broken and wouldn't stay in place - Big green light in the bedroom coming from the heater on the wall 1m away from the bed. Had to cover it to be able to sleep. - Slept next to some insecticide box on the floor - Holes in the wall. - Tiny bed for two - Dreadful bathroom. Nothing like what they show on their photos. This is a 50£ worth hotel room, not 90£! Worst hotel of our whole road trip. When we mentioned all of this to the reception, they offered free breakfast which we refused. We just wanted to get out of this place but that's all they offered. Partial refund was not an option.
First time writing a review because a hotel was so bad but avoid at all costs, so many problems I don’t even know where to start, stayed here for a week as I was working in Oban and the maids never cleaned our room once, never got fresh towels any day atall I seen the cleaner in the hallway to ask her if we could have some and her reply was “I don’t know anything about that” the staff were rude, there was a leak in the hallway on our floor which i informed the reception about as it literally looked like it was raining in the building and she simply said “yes we know about that” then 4 days later it was still the exact same and no attempt had been made to fix it or even a bucket to catch the water/wet floor sign. The shower head never worked properly either and that’s not even half of it. Place is a dump, avoid at all costs. Everybody in the place is clueless it is like a circus. Worst hotel with rudest members of staff I have stayed at by far. Safety: Health and safety disaster waiting to happen as the ceiling in bottom floor hallway is leaking and ready to fall down
Historical old and charming hotel. Staff are so helpful and friendly. They offer a great breakfast in the morning. Nearby activities: Very close to everything in town. Walkability: No need for your car, walking is easy and convenient to most locations. Food & drinks: Wonderful hotel restaurant.
What can say ? Booked thru booking. Com arrived only to see the Hotel closed. We received a message to say the hotel was in limited operation mode ?? We were allocated family rooms at the rear of the hotel. Room was decent enough, and offered a cold breakfast for £11 per person consisting of a cold sandwich and water?? Cannot understand why the Hotel does not advertise its true current situation !!. Needless to say major disappointment. Better to book elsewhere in January 2024.
