Nice hotel in a fantastic location. The hotel feels like it has had a recent upgrade decor wise so was nice. We ate in the hotel and have to say the food was excellent. Service was generally good and very friendly. We did ask for an iron that never appeared. We were in room 35 which was very close to the lift which was quite noisy from the mechanics but not enough to want to move. I'm guessing all the "5" rooms will have the same. You did get a bit of noise from neighbouring rooms but fairly low level. All in all enjoyed our stay and would go back.
Fairly decent clean hotel but is tired and needs some decorative updating. Bed was supremely comfortable and staff were attentative. Great location near Oban town centre, but parking on site limited to maybe 8 spaces and a tight squeeze to crowbar your car in. Otherwise there's on street chargeable parkingRooms: 3/5
Just got back from a 4 day break at this hotel. Had a great time. Breakfast was excellent with help yourself full Scottish breakfast as well as fruit and continental. The staff were great, full of enthusiasm for their work and very friendly especially Jugita apologies if spelling is wrong who always seemed to be there. Single rooms were small but clean and shower was of a reasonable force. There is only a small car park for about 8 cars but on street parking is very cheap and free from 6pm to 9am. Very close to town centre and some good bars. 5* recommendation
Tired but clean, in need of investment. The location was the best feature. Room 39 has an okay sea view. The car park is not big enough and poorly laid out. Staff were okay, friendly enough. At £135 for 1 night without breakfast I felt a little ripped off to be honest.
Stayed here 7 months ago in king room with sea view and it was great. Went back at the weekend, a treat from my daughter, this time a different room with a partial sea view. Lots of corridors and stairs, lift very noisey. Could hear people in the other rooms walking about and talking, heard someone snoring all night. Could also hear staff out the back on their smoking break. Breakfast was not as good as previously, potato scones overdone. I found a hair on my plate. Really disappointed as we really liked our last visit.
A very happy return to the hotel after 2 years. We chose a room with a sea/harbour view which is worth every penny for a treat, as you can enjoy relaxing and watching the boats go by. Ugita the manager was absolutely fantastic in every way, from a very warm reception on arrival to help along our 2 night stay. Breakfast was traditional and fresh. The restaurant menu looked great for evening meals too.
Poorly run restaurant service. No warm welcome. We dined in an over-sized dining room which offered zero atmosphere. A strange mix between a school canteen feeling and a Wes Anderson movie. The staff had little to no knowledge of the menu, how we pay, what wines were available etc. Our food was absolute low quality. Our microwaved meals were tasteless, definitely not home made or fresh, and very disappointing. Its a shame to experience such low standards because the hotel's location lends itself to huge potential. However, its very dated, badly managed, needs a make over, needs a chef who can cook, and an injection of energy and atmosphere. Would not recommend in its current condition but hope to see it improve for the future as its a good location.
Stayed for 2 nights and the hotel is ideally placed to explore Oban. The room was comfortable with a lovely sea view. All the staff were very professional and friendly and very happy to help if needed. Would definitely stay again if visiting the areaRooms: 5/5
It's hard to rate this place because the room that came with our tour package was disappointing small, no fridge, soft twin mattresses but, after we requested an upgrade, we were moved into the Queen Mary Suite a two room suite, with a fridge, a firm queen size bed, overlooking the bay. This turned out to be the best room we had during our two weeks in Scotland -- 10 stars.
A beautiful hotel with fantastic breakfast! Best breakfast ever. Many rooms have great views. Wonderful staff. Helpful. Great views from many rooms. Front of hotel is older building, quite interesting, nice common areas, etc. Back building is newer but still older model of hotel; rooms a bit smaller but that's the way it was done then and the property has limited space. Space is more than adequate as you'll be out and about, anyway. Did I mention the wonderful staff? And the great breakfast? A great little hotel!
