I enjoyed my stay for 3 nights and the warm welcome and helpfulness of the family and folk working there was very 'downhome' and for real...and that makes all the difference. The breakfast was fine and the sausages for my furry companion were much appreciated as his 'wagometer' made very clear. I see some comments about the rooms being a bit 'dated' because of the furniture...personally i liked the veneered wardrobe from another era and the important thing is it did the job just grand. Thank you one and all...we will be back. Robb and Leo Rooms: I had a sea view across ther bay and for the money the room was clean and suited my needs...and the dog approved!
If you want a no-thrills cheap, clean but dated room then this is ideal. If you want 5 star luxuries then pay extra and go elsewhere. This is my second visit to the hotel and I have been hosted well on both occasions.Rooms: 3/5
Met up with my buddies for a work Christmas party. Bar maid took 20 minutes to acknowledge me and then refused to serve me because I didn’t have my ID. Mind you I work at the busiest pub in Oban, manage the backpackers, i’m covered in tattoos and had 5 people to vouch for me. Wouldn’t have minded if she didn’t make me wait 20 minutes in an empty bar. Shocking service.
Lovely little hotel Staff were amazing and friendly Hotel owners were so nice and put on free food for the guests at Hogmanay There was lots of singing and music All in I would definitely go back Walkability: Only 10 walk from town
If this was cheaper, it might not have rankled so much. The rooms, showers, and decor are from decades ago. Items didn't work e.g. old radio. On a plus side, the towels were newish, and the room appeared clean. The sort of place you want to stay out of as much as possible. It's in a great spot to walk in and out of ObanRooms: 2/5
Superb location and a small car park. We were there 5 nights and always found a space. Sea view brilliant. Only quibble over the room is bed is a bit small for 2 plump adults. Breakfast good. Bar friendly and basic bar meals available. Staff friendly, especially 'Steph'. Anybody who complains about this place has unrealistic expectations of value for money - that's my feeling. We'd certainly return.
Fantastic but don't expect sheer luxury, but what you get is homely accommodation, which is what we all look for when staying away from home, you will enjoy your stay and you will love the views of Oban Bay.Rooms: 5/5
Feels more like a 70s motel. The shower/ toilet is extremely stuffy and you will have to walk out and all the way across the room to use the tap and the sync. The carpet has come off in places and the chair cushions have gone quite dark in colour. Asked for the iron for my clothes but couldn't get it because there is a risk that the wiring won't be able to handle it. The view from the breakfast area is breathtaking and worthy of experience. A very unique stay but leaves a lot more to be desired. Nearby activities: The Oban town centre is about 20 minutes from the hotel. All the local shops, food and wine are available here including the ferry and train. Walkability: You can walk by the banks all the way to the beach in 30 minutes.
Staff are great with what they have got to work with, rooms a bit tired but was only to sleep in so did the job. Brealfast was great sitting across from the water views. Had a great night on the friday with the jam session, locals come in and play some music and sing great atmosphere.Rooms: 2/5
Hotel is dated and rundown, which is the best bit. The worst is that i had an intruder who kicked his way into my room at 3am who i managed to subdue. The hotel / staff were un-contactable at the time, I'm still waiting for a reply to an answer phone message which was the only contact possible nearly 24hrs later regarding the incident.
