Great location but over priced. £89.89 for night one 1 which was a thursday then shot up to £120.49 for night 2 which was a Friday. The room was worth the 89 but definitely not the 120. Very old worn dirty looking carpets. VERY small for what I paid I could barely move around the bed thank god i was not with my partner as we would have had to move rooms. No air con which would have been a help since the room was very hot. Option for breakfast at an additional cost of £12 is a good deal i would say. The staff were very polite. Apart from checkout where I was not asked how my stays was. Overall a 3 stars is justified
I stayed with my classmates and teachers. Out of about 6-7 rooms we were in only 1 room had almost no complaints. Air didn't circulate, the bed sheets were nasty, floor was nasty, window wouldn't open at all, the view was a dirty alleyway, room was tiny, the staff didn't want to help and blamed us on the air, mold in the bathroom, the ventilator kept us awake all night, the blankets ran out. How does a hotel not have enough blankets?! Sleeping on the street would be better we wouldn't have wasted any money on that hotel. The managers probably don't want to renovate since it costs them money. Bottom of the Barrel 1 hotel. On a more positive end. The location was fantastic, the food was good enough and I liked some of the staff that were nice enough. Will not return though!
Hallway stunk of cigarettes the entire stay. There was still hair from the previous occupant in the bathroom. Towels were not properly clean. Double room was very small and not suitable for 1 person staying with luggage while needing an ironing board in the room. There was no air conditioning so was unpleasant during the night. This room was by no means worth £124 per night. I will not be staying at this hotel ever again. Had no issues with the staff or service.
I really debated on my review. First, it was quite warm in the room. Second, if you wanted a breeze; you needed to open a window, which would have been fine except for the noise. We had so much commotion till 0330 from the screaming and yelling in the alley way. I believe we finally were able to sleep at 0400. So, we did not get much sleep. The saving grace was Breakfast. It truly was a AMAZING. Now, it is not the fault of the hotel for the noise, and maybe sleeping in an inner room might be better.
At a function last night and had a great time. The bar staff, Josh and Brendon were great guys and even willing to jump up the stairs to get a mixer they didn't have behind the bar for our drinks, made our night! Thanks for putting up with us ramblers!Service: 5/5
The hotel staff were amazing. The food was excellent. Location from main train station and shopping area was superb. The room we had, hmmm, it was OK, not the usual standard from mercure, and it was incredibly warm. That didn't detract from our stay, though. It was a bit awkward to drive to, and with Glasgow being a bit anti car, watch out for all the cash generating cameras.
Staff on reception at check in were both so kind. Helped with directions to our restaurant for dinner. Got up to our room and it had been decorated for my partners birthday with some extras in the room and a card from the team. I asked if there was an iron I could borrow and this was brought up to our room within minutes. The team were more than happy to help with recommendations for brunch the next morning. Room was clean. Powerful shower. Soaps and shampoos were lovely. I cannot fault our stay, we were well looked after and got a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed.
Great location, friendly and efficient staff, food selection is limited but see below but well made, and - fantastic news for me tho probably a huge health and safety alert in this risk-averse modern world - the windows actually open!! - so I slept really well. I stayed here two years ago and the rooms are unchanged. They are perfectly serviceable, warm and comfortable, with spacious bathrooms and ample clothes facilities, but still in need of a slight refresh. Street noise can be a problem if you’re a light sleeper and want the window open, so bring earplugs - or just book somewhere out of the centre. Personally, I like it because you have a quality hotel chain with all that brings, decent facilities at reasonable rates, and you are in the heart of Glasgow city centre. There is a huge variety of restaurants, cafes, clubs, pubs, museums and other cultural highlights within a 15 minute walk, and nothing is much more than the same time away on a bus or train. Great value for the location - thank you!
Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. We stayed here for one night last Tuesday 4th June. To attend a concert at the hydro. We got there quite early and were able to leave our bags while we explored the city. This hotel is in a great location close to everything you need. The room was a good size impeccably clean with the usual amenities you'd expect in a hotel these days. A fridge would have been nice but hey that's just me. Not a big deal. Didn't have time to get names but all staff at this location were very helpful and super friendly. Breakfast was included a mix of full English and continental and probably the warmest of any breakfast we've had at a hotel. Would we stay again 100% yes ignore the lower star reviews. We will be back
This hotel is supposed to be rated 1 star. Super small rooms, smelly bedsheets and towels. I never stayed in a hotel that doesn’t have water bottles in room or even refilled bottle option I can’t imagine staying in a room that has no telephone even inside the bathroom. This is exactly where i stayed in Offering baby crib without duvet, cover or even pillow is unacceptable Its obvious that the housekeeping needs to have full training how to turnover rooms The only thank you goes to the receptionist who checked me in the room. She was very friendly and super polite and supportive Other than that. I would give zero to this hotel and overall experience
