Amazing location right on George's Square! Friendly and helpful staff. Easy check in and check out. The hotel is beautiful. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. My only complaint is the room was very hot and the air conditioning didn't seem to do much.Rooms: 4/5
Great location, right next to queen street station. Was given early check in. Furniture a bit dated, though rooms were very clean. Hairdryer, safe, kettle, iron in the rooms.Rooms: 4/5
Old hotel with upgraded bathrooms. No a/c but temperature was relatively cool even the end of June. Need converter because they only have 220 and British outlets. No USB ports. Staff was very friendly and helpful with answering questions. Nice bar. Hotel only serves breakfast. Great location next to Queen rail station. Several bus stops within a block. Lots of restaurants within five to ten minute walk.
This is a very comfortable hotel with excellent staff. The furniture and decor are a bit dated but all the fundamentals of a comfortable stay are outstanding. The staff are excellent and the beds very comfortable. Breakfast was pretty good. Ordering cooked food instead of using a buffet was actually quite nice. Shame about the restaurant being closed for dinner. Not sure why that is but being at George Square there is no shortage of places to eat. The WiFi was very good too. Overall I would stay here again quite happily.
The hotel is in a great location but it is noisy outside all night. I have stayed here many times as you can walk anywhere it's so convenient. Staff great. Did not have breakfast as there are so many lovely places to eat. Rooms: Rooms are very big and old fashioned. Showers are great. You get the option to clean whole room or just top up tea coffee towels etc. I thought that was great. Walkability: Very close to all the lovely shops and restaurants and bars.
Great location if using the trains to travel around Scotland. Right next door to the Glasgow Queen Street station. There is also an airport bus drop-off point at the corner which we didn't realize until later. Buchanan bus station is within walking distance of the hotel, but it would have been MUCH easier if I had figured out that it stopped basically right at the hotel! My fault. Great customer service by the front desk. They let us leave our bags until our room was ready and then were able to let us in early, which we appreciated after a red-eye flight - we were exhausted! Rooms: Huge room - Junior Suite - didn't actually use the sitting area which needs some furniture upgrades but high ceilings and comfortable bed. Slept well! Walkability: Close to Buchanan Bus station and next door to the Glasgow Queen Street train station. Right on George Street Square and close to shopping and restaurants.
We visited for 2 nights while touring through Scotland, visiting from America. The location was perfect for arriving by train and our room overlooked the square. The room was big and the bathroom was connected by a small hallway so it felt even more spacious. The area is busy and noisy and there's not much soundproofing between the rooms so we could hear the other guests, but just turn on a white noise app on your phone to mask it. It had a historic feel and was just what we wanted. Friendly staff and good toiletry supply in the room. Would certainly be back.
The hotel has deteriorated and is in desperate need of an refurb. No food served at lunch time or dinner time and no room service. There are plenty alternative hotels in the area - would recommend exploring them.Rooms: 1/5
I don't think I'd ever Stay here again. Room decor is old and broken. Rooms are dirty and gross. In the bathroom all of the safety bars are about to come out of the walls. This place needs a major renovation. The floors squeak so we can hear whenever someone in the next room or above us is walking. The staff was nice but that's about it.
The hotel is looking a little tired around the gills but clean Our room was spacious and overlooked George Square. It is ideally situated for the train station and the city centre. However, it can be a bit noisy at night from traffic and noisy revellersRooms: 4/5
