Not a bad hotel - clean newly furnished big rooms etc, but a bit out of the centre - although easy to get too etc. The only disappointment was the food options, being that's it's a little fat out, I was disappointed with the lack of GLuten Free options on the menus nothing. For a brand this established, you would have thought they would be able to accommodate your dietary needs in this day and age.
Under renovation at the moment. Some rooms have been finished, some still in the process of being done up. Most of the lobby area is complete. Looks a lot better than before! Staff are all very friendly and attentive. Couldn’t ask for better. Breakfast the only disappointment. Pretty poor offering and quality. Far better options a short walk away.
We stayed in a newly renovated room that was quite nice - beds are comfortable, bathroom is a decent enough size, sufficient room for a luggage and hanged clothes. The restaurant is quite basic, however I believe it isn’t at its usual standard due to ongoing renovations. Overall, a good hotel!
Brilliant service overall and very clean and tidy. The staff were very warm and welcoming. I would recommend this hotel to other people who are looking to stay in this area.Rooms: 5/5
POSITIVE: Location, breakfast NEGATIVE: They refurbished only the room, not the bathroom they look worn out and really old. Not the cleanest place hair in bathroom and on the carpet in the room, matrace was old and worn back pain after sleep, very low ceilings in the bathroom, no coffee machine in the room. FACT: Not worth the money. Don’t get blind by the brand name. They are in the process of refurbishing the whole hotel. Might be a bit loud when work in progress. Rooms: They are refurbishing the hotel. Walkability: 5-10 min easy walk to the main train station and city centre.
Rooms are good, but not great. I believe the hotel is going to undergo renovation and then the rooms may get more modernised. Very close to city centre, so that is a great advantage. Swimming pool, steam, and sauna along with the gym are really good . Morning, breakfast is good, but very limited vegetarian items.
Can't complain about the team. As always they were amazing. I feel the buffet breakfast was actually very good although would have benefited from an omelette station. The worst thing for us were the beds...they were rock hard and that affected out 5 night stay. Overnight is one thing but staying longer I would have expected something a little softer. It's a pity that we arrived in mid building works as I would have liked to have stayed when it was completed as the pictures of what it will be, look amazing. Finally there was no complimentary bottles of water. To me that's a must, these days. Good to see they had handrails in the bathroom
There are no phones in the room, even for emergencies. This hotel is ONLY for users of the Bonvoy app, which is not secure, and has other issues. Furthermore not all the room lights can not be turned on and off as the guest likes, a "automatic" feature turns the lights off and on. Blanket slipped off your bed a little? Well now the light is on again for no useful purpose. If your spouse got an urgent medical issue, as non-UK guest without the App a guest needs to run to the frontdesk, with the spouse dying alone in the rolm because apparently dumb Marriot CEO made things more complicated because he wants the data an app provides, whilst not really caring about the guest. This was a very bad experience. I am never going to a Marriot hotel again, period. This hotel is so dated, its almost a joke. Upon arrival we found out they were reconstructing the building, if I knew this prior I wouldn't have booked. Windows of the rooms were locked. The airconditioning made so much noise, it was like I was sleeping next to a vacuum cleaner. I couldn't stand up in the shower because the ceiling is too low. it smelt bad in the corridors, the bed was not comfortable. Booked the hotel because of the spa, the sauna was 30 degrees Celsius. Also, I wanted to relax next to the pool, but they rent out the pool to baby/kids swimming classes. Loud babies and kids singing non stop. Marriot Glasgow big big shame on you.
Booked the package for the New Year 2023. Had the most fantastic night, atmosphere, food. Service and entertainment was 1st class. All the other guest were great fun and everyone was just having the best time. Big shout out to the hotel staff who give up their family time to ensure we have a great time from arrival to departure each and everyone was so lovely and friendly. Thank you. Breakfast went down a treat today. Definitely be back next year.
