Rooms very clean, spacious and comfortable but wardrobe space is very small. I was on my own in a double room and could not fit everything in. Also , I had not booked breakfast, I never usually do, but had it on the first morning. I asked to charge it to my room to be settled on departure, normal procedure in hotels, but not possible here. It had to be paid there and then. Why?? I had to go up to my room to get my bank card, details of which they already had, then come back down to pay. Ridiculous !!! Car parking has always been free here but not now even though when I booked on line it said parking was free and the information in the room also said free, it certainly is not. Two days parking cost me nearly £25. Rip off. If you arrive earlier than the check in time and get your room key you could be charged another £20 for that privilege. Again ridiculous. I have always stayed here every year when through for the World Pipe Band Championships but these extra costs and not being allowed to charge things to my room will make me think twice before booking again.
This hotel was clean, convenient and basic. During our stay there seemed to be a staff shortage but were very attentive when they were around. Perfect location in the city centre, only issue was taxi drivers had trouble finding how to get into the carpark. The breakfast buffet was a small selection but as good as you expect, the complementary hot drinks machine was a big hit with our group. The room was clean and stocked as expected.
Great welcome. I was staying here for business. Lovely staff working on the front desk. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. Breakfast had a massive selection. Full continental and large cooked buffet breakfast. Would definitely recommend and not just for business. Good location to plentyRooms: 5/5
Perfect for a short stay if exploring the city or in the area for work. Rooms have everything you need including hair dryer & kettle! Staff very friendly and welcoming. Rooms very clean. Would stay again! Walkability: Easy access from central station using SECC overpass
This place was unacceptable. Lacking in basic amenities, such as phone, routine maid/housekeeping serviceno service unless you request it. If you need more toilet paper or towels, you have to go to the front desk to get it. I needed a toilet brush and they did not have one available. It took two days to have somebody there to clean the toilet and that was disgusting. The food on the breakfast buffet was inedible.Staff attitude is largely “we don’t care“. it is not worth the money you would save over going to a name hotel.
Arrived with little time to spare for a gig at the hydro so never checked the room properly before going to the gig. Came back late so at the time the only complaint we had was that the window wasn’t shutting properly so there was a lot of noise coming from outside. Once we woke up we discovered that the bed was infested with bed bugs. There were dead ones in the bed and multiple crawling in and around the bed frame and mattress. We checked under the mattress and found a pair of dirty underwear along with more bedbugs. Also paid for a double room and was given 2 single beds pushed together. Wouldn’t have bothered complaining about that but since I’m so disappointed and disgusted with the room I thought I’d at least mention that. Don’t have a photo but the curtain looked like it had been chewed and ripped by something at the bottom. The staff have said they’ll sort a full refund and were at least good about us complaining and seemed shocked. As other people have mentioned the price for drinks is ridiculous at the bar and the bar staff weren’t paying attention and got drinks wrong. Won’t stay here again.
Rajat, Sono, Iris and all the staff at the Glasgow Campanile should be applauded for making our 9 days in Glasgow so enjoyable. The hotel itself leaves so much to be desired. It is need of a freshen up. The “family” rooms are the same sized room with an extra bed crammed in. Three people sharing such a tight space was _interesting_. The hotel policy is to not freshen your room unless asked and that meant we could just leave stuff as is. I would suggest, however, that checking each day to empty bins and make sure there’s toilet paper available. But the staff! Oh the staff! They more than make up for the slight shabbiness I have stayed in far worse of the hotel itself. There is nothing too out of their way to help you. We needed to get laundry done and didn’t have cash, having only recently arrived from Australia and Sono pulled her emergency £20 that she carries around behind her phone and loaned it to me without question. Our toilet got backed up another thing that needs improving and, once I brought it to their attention, it was sorted in short order. Breakfasts are generous and there is sufficient variety to please most palates. We didn’t have any particular dietary requirements but they were willing to try to accommodate requests. Sweet people, who obviously love what they do.
We have stayed here before because of the close proximity to the Hydro venue. The reception was clean and polished, however the room we had was disappointing. The curtains were hanging off the rail and the shower needed a deep clean mould and dirt. We didn't use it for that reason. The cooked breakfast offerings were not hot enough to meet HACCP standards. Won't be coming back. Rooms: The room was disappointing. The curtains were hanging off the rail and the shower needed a deep clean mould and dirt. We didn't use the shower for that reason. I jokingly told my travel companion that if he looked at the online pictures that it looked more like a youth hostel than a hotel and no truer words were spoken! We had to pay our entire bill in advance which I've never had to do in any European hotel ever. The rooms were so basic that there wasn't a phone or any way to communicate with the front desk other than by going down and hoping someone was on duty. A guest is provided with two towels and must go to the front desk to get more. I only got one roll of toilet tissue and had to go to the front desk for more. Overall, don't stay here unless it is for one, very expensive night. The photo, btw, is the back of the chair in the bat. ugh . . Replying to "Paul" - Unless you moved the hotel overnight this IS the hotel I reviewed. The physical plant is opposite The Rotunda if I recall the name correctly and is located at 10 Tunnel across from the SEC, the "Armadillo", and the OVO concert facility. The photo is the top of the backrest of a bar not bat seat -- still UGH! Nearby activities: Close to the SEC and the OVO centers. Noteworthy details: Vomit stained hallway. Poorly maintained bathroom that need fresh caulking around the shower basin.
Great budget hotel. Fantastic location for the hydro. Was a bit put of by the reviews, everyone's opinion is different but we found it good for what we paid. Think there is a few people with high expectations for a 3 star hotel. Room was fine, clean, plenty of space. Staff very friendly. Breakfast good, enough choice. Would definitely stay here again.
