Good selection of items, the UK version of a pricier Target. I had a frustrating experience with their exchange policy. I purchased an item that became defective. I called tech support, waited on hold for about 20 minutes, and was told I would need to come in and exchange it. I did not have my receipt, but was told the credit card I used to buy it and the approximate date of purchase would be sufficient. So I made the trip and was informed that not only was the item not in stock, but that I would need to get a print out of my credit card statement for proof of purchase. A very frustrating wasted hour.

their motto is "never knowingly undersold" - but they specialise in having exclusive stock, so this doesn't mean they're cheap. however sometimes you really get a bargain here. the new cafe on the top floor has the most amazing views, and the food is good.

Shocking. 6'3" and I'm invisible to John Lewis bedding department staff. Today I went there three times, to be seen but ignored by shop assistants, when they weren't on the other side of the floor, deep in conversation with each other at least. Thanks to the ATTENTIVE and HELPFUL staff at Marks and Spencer.

It is a bit isolated during all the development works around it, but still worth a visit for its wide range of quality goods. The store is being upgraded with internal works. As a result, there is a much better cafe and customer toilets. The new TV and electrical department on the same floor is impressive. Post sales service is good.

Top marks to Vivienne in the home tech department who went way above and beyond the call of duty to help us with a problematic gift voucher on Saturday. Potential embarrassment turned into successful purchase thanks to her tenacity and top class customer service ethic. We will be back.
