On a busy Sat afternoon with the pubs rammed for eating we came here. Very quiet. The food and service was fine. More expensive than our favourite Manchester haunts but we enjoyed the experience. 3 starters, 3 mains, 3 sides and 3 pints £103. Pint of Singha £6.20.
I honestly don’t know how this place has got some good reviews as I am Thai and this was not Thai food. First off, our server was rude. We told him what we wanted and apparently it was too quick for him as he said to us “How fast do you think I can write?” which left us feeling uncomfortable and like we were shouted at like school kids. Then the drinks came, one hardly had any whiskey in it to which the server responded, that’s just the recipe, the starters were below average with the chicken satay tasting dry and bland. One of our mains was incorrect, so the waitress took it back to the kitchen and when she brought us the ‘right’ dish, it was the same dish, but just with more spices on it. It was meant to be drunken noodles, but instead we got a very odd Pad Thai see photo.. nothing like what drunken noodles should look like! Can you even see the meat?. We ate our food as we were hungry and it was already late, but it was hands down the worst meal we’ve ever had. When we politely told our server how our experience was, he spoke to us in a condescending matter, fake smiling and writing down our issues saying that he will report it back to the kitchen, but we knew he was just speaking bull. He gave us 10% off our bill, but it was still £57 for a meal that tasted nothing like Thai food and an uncomfortable experience in the restaurant. We really should have got it for free. Just don’t go to a Thai restaurant if you don’t see Thai chefs or servers! It honestly wasn’t ran by Thai owners. Never never never again. Was also the day after we got married as well, so was disappointing. Oh, also to note, the couple next to us left their mains as well as they kept getting their order wrong and they couldn’t be bothered waiting for below average food to come out. We really should have done the same. I wish we had!
If You would like to taste the real, authentic Thai cuisine that's the place to be. Very friendly staff who's happy to help U choose the right food. Very good vibe with relaxing oriental music. Lot of thai decorations even tuk-tuk the metropolitan way of transport haha Tropical and oriental dishes - I highly recommend the soups even if there are bit small portioned but it's real spicy taste. Easy to find - central part of Ambleside. From drinks menu - wines, drinks and beers also draughts
Beautifully decorated restaurant serving excellent Thai food at a very reasonable price I would highly recommend it. My only complaint was I originally went for the early evening 2 courses offer for £16.95 but was told I was too late even though it was 6.04pm 4 minutes past the offer. The young lady was very polite and asked the manager if I could please have the offer he said No. I was disappointed.
For all the hype and ratings is average Thai fare. Nice location and ambience but the food is priced for tourists who don’t have much choice for Thai cuisine in this part of the district.
Had a really nice meal with friends. The service was pretty quick considering how busy the place was. Food was well cooked and tasty. Portion sizes were good but could have been slightly bigger especially the rice. The restaurant was really clean and well decorated.
Overall a reasonable experience. Staff seem very friendly and the food was cooked unserved quite quickly. We have the Prawn soup starter and the Thai prawn curry for mains. The food is hot spicy certainly will Wake you up. The coconut rice was nice enough but I felt the portion was quite small. So had to order an exta
I'd like to complain and get a partial refund for both poor quality and quantity of takeaway food this evening. You are charging very nearly restaurant prices and each pot was half full? £9.75 per main dish I'd expect restaurant quality? Plus a mixed vegetable curry should have more than 2x vegetables, in any Thai I'd also expect mushrooms and carrots as a minimum... To top it off, everything was cold, it was only a 12 minute drive back and I got there dead on collection time. I called and spoke to Seby who then called me darling I'm not his darling and said he'd only refund if I drove all the way back. I came in from Outgate 12 mins away so no way was I coming back. I would not pay more than £25 not £38 for this measly amount and poor quality food. Do not recommend to anyone!
Delicious!! Enjoyed a steamed Mince prawn starter between us followed by seabass, salmon in red curry with rice & noodles. The flavours were superb.
One of the best if not the best Thai Restaurant in the area. The taste was amazing and the service was quick too.Recommended dishesTom Yum, Thai Green Curry with Coconut Milk, Spring Rolls with Sweet Chilli Sauce
