A warm welcoming pub. We ate the first night as it was convenient but was happy we did. I got fish and chips,the fish was beautiful. We also got sausage and mash,apparently it was so nice he could have eaten more. Lovely comfy seat a real fire just what you need on a very cold night. We visited the next night good vibe, warm as was the welcome and service. Definitely pop in if your in Ambleside a real winter warmer.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Had grilled chicken breasts were very bland and watery. Would definitely go back for a drink but wouldn't eat there again.

Nice food and drink in here in a good warm and friendly environment. I really enjoyed coming here for food and a couple of drinks. The only reason it didn't get the 5 stars is the they made the classic mistake a lot of pubs in this area seems to make. They have about 5 different ales on tap, but they are all very similar, round 4% bitter pale ales. Nice stuff but more variety of styles would make it even better. Another common 'mistake' in my mind is that they don't have proper chips, again this is common and I wouldn't let it put you off visiting as I found the food here nice!

Traditional style pub. One of the better ones in Ambleside. Good range of beers
