The staff squeezed us in for an early dinner. They were fully booked later. We were well taken care of on the outside patio. My fish pie with a gratin crumb topping was excellent. I should not have had the sticky pudding but it was soooo good. We'll have to start sharing desserts my walking is not making up for my eating.
A great meal with substantial portions. I had their steak and ale pie and I must say it was one of the best pies I have had in a restaurant. A proper pie with pastry all round and baked in a tray, school dinner style. Really very good! Chips and vegetables weren't half bad either! Too full for a pudding, but they did look great as well
Loved the location and history, wine was lovely and ales too. Not overly impressed with the Sunday roast; not a great cut of beef and vegetable selection was not great and portion size small. Heard other meals are far better so may go again next year when we visit AmblesideFood: 2/5
On a busy Easter weekend, Nicole and small team handled everything amazingly. Sunday roasts were great but everyone's food looked tasty! Will return when in Ambleside.
Don't really know what to say apart from AMAZING.At first we always thought this place was a pub,but it's not,what it is,is special.It sits right on the corner of a busy people watching place as it has a lovely outdoor seating area.This was where we had our first,but definitely not our last meal.Everything was perfect,the atmosphere,the service and as for the food it was truly stunning.Next time your in the area give it a go
The food was amazing, we had steak and it was cooked to perfection. The front of house staff were really professional, friendly and helpful. The only reason I have given four star is because the kitchen staff's language left something to be desired with an open door kitchen. We voiced our concerns to the Front of house staff so hopefully this will stop. We were not the only people to voice our concerns either. Everything else was perfect though.
After a hike up and around Loughrigg Fell The Priest Hole was everything we could have wished for. Cold beer, lovely, filling, tasty comfort food and no hassle, friendly service. Excellent with dogs too but they're outdoors only
We had a brilliant Sunday roast lamb. Quality drinks and perfect service. Thank you.
Not been in 24 years, our loss. Will be back sooner unless they get a stair lift. Great food and quality wine selection. Full and very happy. The steak pie.... and sticky toffee pudding! Do go.
Food was lovely but cajun chicken wasn't very cajun staff very apolgetic
