Friend here our first night in Ambleside, food was reasonable I had chicken noodles, nice. A few days later they didn't have much selection as lots of the menu had sold over the last few days wasn't as keen on my second choice. But that said its a welcoming place with a lovely beer garden and reasonable prices.

Brilliant food for good prices. It was busy outside (plenty of space for those who love the sun!) but quiet inside. Quick and friendly service.

We went up to Ambleside early morning to make sure we gave ourselves enough time due to the snow. We planned to have breakfast at the White Lion but when we got there it was closed. I spotted someone inside and she came to the door to say they had no heating or water so they can't open. We walked back round to the car park to set off to find somewhere else and she came out to say they had just lit the fire and now have water so we can go in. The two of us and our little dog went in and sat by the fire and enjoyed a lovely breakfast with great service from nice staff. Thank you for letting us in when it was freezing and snowy outside.

Would have been 5 stars but a hot drinks machine broken and not fixed in Easter week is not good enough!! Food good, beer fine. Staff do there best when some bar queues arrive. Nice atmosphere

Decent food, even though we had to change the order twice as dishes weren't available. Otherwise pretty decent pub grub
