Great budget hotel for a concert at the First Direct Arena. We had a twin room, the room was clean, very comfy beds, good shower. Also felt safe, staying with my daughter. Our room was 6th floor it was quiet. Friendly staff. Didn't have the breakfast but plenty of options nearby. Easy to get an Uber back to the station in the morning. All in all a great place at an exceptional price.
We had a great little stay while doing business at the Royal Armouries. The hotel is ideally located for this, and for restaurants in the City Centre. The hotel definitely had the feel of a budget stay, but for all that, it was clean, modern and well air-conditioned throughout. Breakfast felt a bit pricey for a continental, but the eating area was very pleasant, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Lack of car park was a bit of a surprise, but we were directed to the NCP car park a short walk away, which was not too much of a problem with our small amount of luggage. Overall, great value for money. I'd definitely book again on our next business trip to Leeds.
The picture suggests it looks at least a little fresh even if it is compact and low budget. But the room is dated, knackered. The makeup table has no mirror and is the opposite side of the room for even trying to use it. Toilet door is noisy to open and shut and the toilet roll holder was hanging off.
Probably the worst hotel experience I've had for a while.nnPros: reception staff were friendly and polite and the place looks okay from the outside. Central location.nnNo on-site parking but reasonable NCP parking about 10 mins walk away....nnCons: the room was drab, the bed was uncomfortable.nnI was kept awake from around 1am by noisy idiots outside my room adjacent to the lift. Not pleasant people who you would want a confrontation with. No phone in room or number for reception - didn't feel particularly safe. Raised the issue at reception following day- no CCTV to explore incident affirming my feeling of this hotel not feeling the most secure.nnIt can be argued it's not the hotels responsibility to keep other guests quiet but my experience is some hotels go a lot further with signs and expectations on guests compared to this one...nI've attached the single hotel poster in the lift asking people to be quiet - you don't have to have a degree in communication studies to guess this probably isn't the most effective strategy for asking people to be considerate of others - everything about it is terrible from the font to bizarre imagery. Surely Ibis can do better??
Ibis can drop the title hotel and rename it hostel. The rooms are basic beyond belief. The flooring is laminate and therefore cold and hard, the bed & pillows are incredibly firm, there is no bathroom as such - the shower is a cabinet, the sink is next to the bed and the WC is in cupboard without a locking door. Also, there is no kettle in the room. All in all, Ibis offers a hostile and uncomfortable living space. Hotel staff are efficient but lack a friendly manner. The hotel can only really suit for an overnight city stay so long as relaxation and adequate sleep is not on the agenda. Breakfast is continental but I'm sure European visitors wouldn't be impressed. Cereals, toast and yogurt are on offer, part baked pastries and some ham and cheese. There is no fresh fruit or hot food options. Coffee is available from a machine that uses powdered milk. The only redeeming feature is the hotel's location which is a 10-minute walk from the city centre. I wouldn't book here again and instead spend a bit more money on somewhere that can offer an element of comfort.
