Disappointing really.nNeeded a good hoover, both rooms were hoovered on request.nChain missing on door security.nBedside table taped together.nMouldy windowsill.nPeeling paint.nNo wardrobe but a rail on the wall, so you can admire your clothing from your bed!nI could not see a hairdryer either.nAccessible room was missing shower curtain, and the water did not drain well, which meant the floor remained wet for hours.nAttention to detail needed here.nA lovely lady over seeing breakfast was chatty and helpful. She bought us some dairy free milk.nThe first one was open, though, with no sticker showing when it was opened or when it was past its best. some basic food hygiene and safety regulations.nHot food was plentiful, with many other cold options, including gluten-free porridge.nI think Scott? Was on reception, and he was very professional and considerate.nHad high hopes for this hotel, but it did not live up to them.nI always feel ripped off when you get charged to park your car. Here it is £10 per day.nI rang in advance and was clearly told disabled badge holders get a concession.nWhen we arrived, we were told that that had never been the case.
Me and my partner recently stayed at the HI express Cardiff bay as a small/long weekend away.nnOverall the stay was incredibly pleasant, however, a few things I feel I should mention...nFirstly: throughout the entire stay there was doors banged and slammed thoughout the day and night, unsure if this was guests or staff, either way. It wasn't good.nnSecondly: Throughout the stay there was a distant, but audible banging noise that never stopped. Often making it difficult to sleep at night.nnThirdly: Another guest did bring a dog, who kept barking with no obvious effort to stop it.nnFourthly: The fire alarm went off at random at 5:45am, this causing myself and my partner a great deal of distress.nnThe staff during the stay were incredibly polite and attentive, approachable and friendly.nnThe breakfast is a standard holiday inn breakfast, it does what it says on the tin. If you're looking for a 5 star dining experience, this isn't for you.nnThe hotel itself was incredibly clean. No faults there at all.nnI knocked some stars off the room, due to the banking, barking and alarm. The bed was comfortable, however the flat sheets are incredibly annoying. I wish hotels would use fitted sheets. The pillows were fine.nnAlso, watch out for the car park fee, this is charged at £10 a night and gets incredibly costly if you're staying for more than one day, it also does not guarantee you a space if the hotel is busy.
1st time in Cardiff. Incoming Scott on reception was absolutely amazing. Has gone above and beyond even came to the room to show us how to use the heating. Very Knowledgeable about the area. Fantastic service cracking sense of humour would stay here again because of him.
Good budget hotel, centrally located, decent rooms/bathroom. Double bed was a touch too small. Friendly staff. Only disappointment was the £10 fee to park on the premises. Good continental breakfast.
Disappointed overall.nnCheck in was a smooth process, Kiera was really helpful and super friendly breakfast was decent and honesty that's where the good bits end.nnWe went to the bar before leaving to see a show and unbeknownst to us Barclays as nationally documented this weekend went down. I ordered a couple of drinks and tried to pay and of course due to their issues the payment declined twice before I used another card, this earned me several looks of distain from the person behind the bar which was pretty embarrassing to start off with. We arrived back around 11pm and all night there were large groups of very noisy girls coming and going right up to 5am on both nights keeping us awake which didn't help. Advice, if you must visit, don't have a room next to the lift or facing out towards the front of the hotelnnDay 2, we called reception to order some food from their 'served all day' menu around 3pm which stated to order from reception or the bar. We were told we had to go down to order and that we could take it back to our room but we couldn't order over the phone to reception and then collect, she did say it would only take a couple of minutes to be ready though clearly all microwave food then. We headed down stairs half an hour later after getting ready to be told at the bar that food isn't served until 5pm! Why we were not told this on the phone is beyond me. And why does the menu state all day?nnAfter being kept awake on the second night we decided to head to the bar at 1am advertised open until 2am as we really needed a cold drink. The bar was shut and the vending machine had no soft drinks left. The reception is 24 hours, why they couldn't just sell us a soft drink baffles. The issue above may be out of date signage but we were told on check in that the bar is open until 2am as well as the huge sign on the bar.nnThe bed was very small and uncomfortable. We were given 3 bottles of hand wash which were put in the shower, and a shampoo and body wash which were on the sink, no conditioner. I did ask at reception for conditioner to be told that they don't do it. I went back to the room, jumped in the shower to then have someone knock at the door 3 times very impatiently who then handed me conditioner.nnAs an IHG club member this is the worst hotel I've stayed in of all the hotels I've visited within the group, we have always had a great experience. Extremely disappointed, especially for the price over £110 a night! Definitely would not return. 2 stars given for location, Keira and Breakfast. The hotels only redeeming features
