Hackney Downs is a well-connected and conveniently located railway station in East London, serving the Overground and Greater Anglia routes. It’s particularly useful for commuters traveling between Liverpool Street and the northeastern suburbs.
Peak time Very busy station.nIt big station.n50 stairs to each plat form.nThis is not good station for old people as their is no lifts or wheelchair access.nStaff is amazing and always lovely travelling instructor by station managers.nMr.Terry Station Manager is a nice person and always helpful.nnThis station has good connection between hackney down & Hackney Central.nnThis station need modernisation.nAccelerators & Lift definitely recommend part of upgrading.nTicket office must be opened all the time from first train to last train.
Hackney Downs station has a very small entrance and ticket hall area so when it is rush hour it can a few minutes to get in and out of the station due to the amount of passengers in a small area. There is no disabled access to the platforms only stairs there is a coffee shop on the platform but no toilets. The platforms are long and the station was clean when I was here. One great thing about Hackney Downs station is that you can interchange with Hackney Central Station at platform 1. Its around a 5 minute walk so there is no need to come out of either station. Hackney Downs Station is also very busy with lots of passengers.
This station is very nice! It has plenty of services! The walk to hackney central however takes forever and this station is not accessible at all! The station itself is very nostalgic and has a very interesting vibe to it.nnOverall, it is a brilliant station and will be even better once step free and they resolve that horrible long walk to hackney central!
The community gardens on the platforms are nice.nThe book loan trolley is wonderful to leave books and take one when there’s something there - wish more stations had this!nnIt can be a little confusing at first changing over from Hackney Central. But there are signs to help.
