Stratford international is a fantastic station but not as big and busy as London st pancras or Liverpool Street. Every time I come here, I've found it clean, plenty of space with normal facilities like a coffee shop, bathroom and a newsagent.nThe station name is misleading, you can't take the Eurostar from there, you'll have to go to st pancras and the station is its own separate entity from Stratford station.
Of late, September 2024 The East ingres ticket hall has been not open in early mornings, so I suspect this may end up being a regular issue? Continued problems with lifts and escalators. Is this a sign of financial issues with Southern railway? The staff seesaw blaim on either Network rail, or there own company. Interior panelling, seats, and facilities showing signs of age. I think because this station original intentions being a major hub for international travel were dropped long ago, it's been neglected as a dead hub in a way. Otherwise, trains are usually reliable.
HS1 Station located right by Westfield Shopping Centre. Also convenient for DLR to London City Airport. Short walk through Westfield to main Stratford Station for overground underground and more recently Elizabeth line. Limited facilities and features in thr Station itself but plenty nearby including Tap East brewery for a pint while waiting for a train
Changing from Stratford to Stratford International or vice versa? GOOD LUCK. I've done it only few times in my life and I don't know the route by heart. I try following the signs, but there are not enough of them. The shopping centre is a maze to trap people in, it looks all the same to me and it certainly contributes to the confusion. Please add clear big signs to make train connections a less frustrating endeavour.
British engineering at its best. The escalators are faulty two or three times a year, and each time it takes more than one month for them to sort it out. And obviously for a supposedly international station there was no provision for escalator redundancy.nnThey even have a designated board over the maintenance area!nnGlad to see the almost £6 one way ticket for 7 minutes on the train being put into good use.
