My favourite campsite in the Peak District. Super cheap, never too busy, no cars as you cannot drive to the pitch, clean toilets, water, bins - all you need.
Still only £3.50/night. An absolute bargain anywhere but in this setting even better, and with a toilet block too. Cyclists welcome but you'll need to lift your bike over the gate. Can't fault it.
Perfect if you don't mind back to basics camping. There is a toilet block but that's pretty much it. It's super cheap and you don't need to book and I can't imagine it ever being full. You do get woken up early by the cows but it's a working farm so to he expected. Slightly sloping field and a good 10-15 mins walk from the road. The actual tent field is up past the farm house on the left.
Been coming here for 36 years. Incredible views. Great pub 2minutes away at car park. Basic get away from it all. Faultless.
Its a quiet, walk in only site with only basic facilities, cash only. Small tents, no cars can get on site.
Lovely location, good atmosphere with many climbers and hikers. Rules appear to be keep the noise down, no fires, no unsupervised teenagers and no portable speakers or radios watch out for acoustic guitarists though!. There is a toilet block with a washing up sink and a tap alongside the toilets. No hot water but all seems clean and drinkable. Men's toilets are simple and clean enough; 2 basins, 1 WC and 1 urinal, plenty of toilet paper as far as I experienced! Not sure what the women's block is but looked from outside like 2 WC. No parking on site, park at Birchen Edge car park looks like it's part of the Robin Hood pub but the entrance is 5 meters after it on the left. Walk into the site is 5-10 mins. At the price it's a steal, would definitely recommend for those who just want the basics.
The campsite is ideal – it's within walking distance of boulders and crags, has cute farm animals and beautiful views. The owners are friendly and helpful and keep the toilets very well-maintained. We had a lovely time!
If you are expecting lots of facilities, forget it. There is a toilet block loo roll provided when we were there,a sink, and rubbish bins. What you do get, though, are great views, peace and quiet and a cheap rate - currently £3.50 per person. Seems to get quite a few Duke of Edinburgh teenagers, but they are normally considerate and well behaved. It's a small hike up a slight hill to the site from the car park on the main road, so probably best to look somewhere with easier access if you are bringing a 6 man tent and all the clobber. Goes without saying no caravans or campervans here.
Exactly what I want out of a campsite: a peaceful field with a tap and toilet block. The site is a fair walk 0.5km from the road and car parking is National Trust by the pub. No showers and very basic. No need to book when I called, just turn up and pitch. They come round and collect £3.50 pp at around 7.30 each morning.
Basic no-frills campsite. Was £3.50pppn when we stayed in August 2018. Offers water station, toilets incl. toilet paper and great views over the surrounding area. I'd give the cows a wide berth though if you're not used to them, they can be a bit overly curious! When we stayed, there was only us 2 and a couple of other hikers staying so noise was minimal.
