Mud bath! Although there had been some rain recently as we drove in i could see the field was puddled. We carefully moved on to our pitch, unfortunately due to the state of the field the mud ended up being walked into our camper-van The next evening we again carefully attempted to reverse onto our pitch, this time our back wheels sank into the saturated field. We decided to leave it until morning to get a tow from the site owner who despite being there for two days had still not met. I knocked on the door, there was no answer, i wandered around to the near bye horse stables where there was a woman. I asked if i could get a tow and she said "the owners are out for the day, probably won't be back until 5ish, you're on your own!"........

Visited on the weekend 12 - 13 August 2017. If you're in a rush, I'll say this: I HIGHLY recommend this campsite. No, this is NOT a holiday destination, it's a nice place to enjoy yourself. Though I'm told that there will be a games room next year. Nice, quiet peaceful spot situated in the Derbyshire countryside, the toilets(Though basic for now), are nicely cleaned and the shower is powerful. The field is situated next to a field of horses, which are VERY friendly and won't hesitate to come for a fuss(No eye poking). The night was mostly peaceful. The place is located above most light pollution, and we saw the milky way and the perseid meteor shower was better than fireworks from that vantage point! I highly recommend any amateur astronomers out there to bring a telescope as it would be worth it(Wish I brought mine!). The site is closely located to many places to eat(Though they're expensive) My personal ratings: Location 5/5. Views 5/5 staff 4.5/5 noise 4/5 Wildlife 5/5 I will definitely go again! If the staff read this, keep it up!

Positives the views, there appears to be a new toilet block being built which will be brilliant. The current facilities are adequate, hot running water, free showers and clean toilets. Prices are great with a very organised entry and pitch up. Negatives the ground is very rocky which makes it extremely difficult when erecting the tent, we lost half our pegs due to bending. Something completely out of anyone's control was the gnats!! We were bitten to death during our stay, despite gallons of Citronella, mosquito wipes and creams!

Good clean facilities presently being extended. Ben and Sam are friendly and helpful. We also store our caravan here.

A beautifully situated site and so peaceful. The facilities were good and clean but could be tricky if site is full. Glad to see extra showers etc are planned. Something to consider would be some form of gravel or hardstanding in some areas that would avoid the possibility of motorhomes becoming stuck in the mud ! We will definitely go back .
