Well staffed, clean, has a few shops and generally find it easy to get where I need to go. Needs better announcement when a train changes platform though.
I left my luggage on the train and realised as I got off at East Croydon, but the doors had already closed for it to depart. It was a busy Saturday evening and frankly the staff had more to worry about than helping me get my bag back. But one platform manager, Madalin, was so helpful. He called ahead to London Bridge and gave the staff the description. He was then running around monitoring trains coming into and out of the platforms every minute, all while being asked a hundred questions by other customers. He remained totally calm, friendly and polite throughout and was eventually radioed to say my back had been found. Thank you Madalin for helping me get it back.
East Croydon is a railway station and tram stop in the town of Croydon, Greater London, England, and is located in Travelcard Zone 5. At 10 miles 28 chains 10.35 mi; 16.66 km from London Bridge, it is one of the busiest non-terminal stations in London, and in the United Kingdom as a whole. It is one of three railway stations in the London Borough of Croydon with Croydon in their name, the others being West Croydon and South Croydon. A Tramlink tram stop is located immediately outside the main station entrance.
Excellent station. Always busy, but it works. Plenty of staff. Coffee available at main entrance and on platforms. Toilets work.....sometimes. Trains stop here 24hrs a day.
Every time I have to pass through this awful station something is always wrong, whether its the staff who don't seem to know anymore than we do when the trains are delayed or cancelled, random platform changes with no board updates, Station wasn't even open for my 6.09 this morning, But the staff were there??? Nothing updated online so we all turn up at the station. Terrible experience Its a hard one to avoid because of Gatwick , but avoid like the plague where possible.
Great station, very well connected between central London and southern rail. Main entrance is next to tram stop - both directions - towards Wimbledon and Addington Also main entrance is adjacent to various bus stops. Local destination like Boxpark, visa centres, city centre are on walking distances. All major squares are provided with maps column. Taxi rank towards the eastern exit on main entrance. Very close to pubs and restaurants. Gatwick express stops here. They are planning to start another - third entry towards the eastern side. Ramps entry/exit on the main entrance. Elevator and stows on the second entrance. Loads of ticket and atm machines on the periphery of the station. Also has few ticket/recharge counters.
It's a train station! A busy train station! A good connector to a lot of destinations. In the South East. To Brighton on platform 3.
Well laid out station. Good choice of catering outlets. Central location. Excellent staff.
Not bad so far. Might need some upgrade but has facilties to suit passengers i.e ramps to get to the platforms and train. Toilets are available and this station leads to so many exciting locations like Brighton if you love the beach, and Gatwick Airport, if you're looking at getting out of heatwave London to another hot hot destination like Spain or Dubai. What's the fuss about the heatwave? Enjoy it and get some air-conditioners.
Its a busy transport hub with trains, buses and trams all available here and the station serves the busy and still expanding central district of Croydon. I don't really like this station but you don't need to like it if you're merely travelling into and out of central London which I do frequently.
