Have been in a while ago for lunch, enjoyed getting the pensioners lunch great food and price. Since we last whent for lunch it has changed hands and they don't do the pensioners lunch now, which is a pity please bring it back, always busy now with funeral parties there had been three in the one day we were there the locals told us.Service: 4/5
Attended The Crookston with friends for Sunday dinner. The restaurant was very busy, but our table was ready even though we were early. Plenty of choice on the menu, all piping hot when it was served. Very good value for money. We will definitely be back, and will book well in advance. Food & drinks: Well priced and plenty of choice
Stayed here once again and certainly wasn't disappointed. What can I say. Home from home. I booked a family room this time as my son was running for charity on the Sunday. Staff as ever couldn't do enough for us. Room was clean and very comfortable. The beds were amazing best night's sleep I have had in a long time even though i shared the bed with my Grandchild. Had supper in the lounge bar. OMG . It was sooooo good. I am known by many to tell it as I see it. Excellent service. Great food. Very comfortable bed = happy Grammie. Thanks again guys. You are all amazing. Until the next time Food & drinks: Brilliant food. Very reasonably priced.£4 a pint which I'm told is cheap
Booked here for an overnight stay with dinner, bed & breakfast for a night out with friends. Staff were all amazing, food was lovely and the rooms spacious and clean. Will definitely be back.Rooms: 5/5
- Uncomfortable lumpy mattress and bar generated too much ASB and noise. + Clean rooms and pleasant helpful staff. + Location is great for trains every 20 mins to central Glasgow.Rooms: 3/5
Our local, went for food which was excellent steak pie & chicken Balmoral well presented hot, great value for money and delicious. Staff are amazing thanks to Lorraine for the positive changes being made .Service: 5/5
Room was OK if a little tired decor wise. Shower wasn't the best either being a little slow running and on the cooler side. However all that said, the room was clean, bed comfortable, and the staff very friendly.Rooms: 3/5
A decent budget hotel with easy access to central Glasgow. Delish poached eggs for breakfast.Rooms: 4/5
The single room was small as stated, but the bed was extremely comfortable, especially considering i do a single bed once in a blue moon…room was clean, and en-suite...and i was there to sleep! ..and room for my dog's bed too.The people working there were brilliant...friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The bar and restaurant are obviously very much a hub of the local community and it is simply down to the homely 'vibe'...it reminded me vibe-wise a bit of the bar in Cheers. Friendly people who knew each other. My fish and chips for my dinner hit the spot! A bit of a wait if 5 - 10 minutes or so counts, but that was because it was being cooked fresh! All i can say is i felt at home in the Crookston. It did exactly what it says on the tin...and the price was right. Reading the reviews of the place, it is obvious that since Lorraine MacDonald took it over last year, it has benefitted from some very tasteful and excellent refurbishment. I will be back. Strange coincidence is that i lived just 1 mile away from it when i was a kid almost 70 years ago…Funny old world, i had no idea when i booked it. Many thanks to everyone there. P.S. I forgot to mention my dog …His Lordship Sir Leo Boogaloo…appreciated the sausages for his breakfast too! ...and being made a fuss of. Robb and Leo AND P.P.S. I realised earlier i had not mentioned the excellent breakfast. And thanks for the intro to Aldi’s Super nutty muesli!!!!! Here on Islay we only have a Co-Op. and this muesli is the best i have EVER had other than when we used to mix out own back in the 70’s…nuts galore…and multiple boxes purchased on the wayhome. It says fairtrade but don’t know about organic. Full of nuts and not bloody raisins. Toast in a rack, so not soggy, poached eggs to perfection, and the next morning the choice of veggie sausages, again ‘got right’ which is an art in itself, mushrooms and tomatoes cooked just spot on. In Glasgow in April, £40 for a single room with shared facilities AND dog friendly with sausages for his breakfast!!!, or in my case £50 for a single en-suite… not because i am rich but NHS patient travel allows £50 for b&b for those of us from the Highlands and Islands…oh and a negative… the shower was cold/tepid for the first 5 minutes but working fine the next morning after the plumbers were called in. Perhaps for anyone who has read this, the clincher was when i looked at the trivasos and boocoms etc and the prices across Glasgow…enuff said. Encore is i will be back. Perhaps the difference is because despite the small single rooms, they are a very comfortable bed-room, and just downstairs is a bar where in true “weegie” style you will be invited in and feel at home…and i repeat…i am NOT on commission. I simply appreciate no-bullshit warmth and hospitality…as does Leo! I was not above the bar in my room on Friday so cannot comment on the noise…some folk have. And for any dogs travelling with your chauffeur at present…’gie them a nudge on the navi page’. anyone or anyplace that loves dogs and slips them a sausage at breakfast time…well if you have a dog and looking for a friendly nights kip it is worth a phone call. As for Sir Boogaloo…” would Leo like veggie or normal sausages Robb”…it seems both are eminently scoffable! Oh and for anyone wondering…Leo was waiting patiently for his “me-deliver-to-you “ morning delivery in the bedroom. As a piece of non-trivial trivia the law on animals is that they must “not be where food is being prepared”…end of. As for Leo…”c’mon man…just give me the sozzies won’t you!’ Rooms: Single was small but clean and served its purpose. Safety: Very quiet neighbourhood. Noteworthy details: Friendly and excellent staff and service with a smile.
Nice stay lovely owner drove me and my 8 week old son where we needed to go in the morning instead of us getting a taxi. Such a kind gesture
