Right in the heart of Central London. Though in a busy street the rooms inside are clean and quiet. It's not a 5-Star hotel but it delivers as it promises. All necessary facilities, responsive staff, well-maintained, decent wifi. If you stay longer than a week laundry and weekly cleaning are included. And yes a decent kitchen with all necessary equipment for cooking. Overall a great experience and much recommended. PS: My room was having the main road view facing the opposite 5-Star.
Summary: 6 day stay in mid-November. Location is amazing and property has just been fully renovated. Unfortunately completely let down by the staff. Lack of central heating in the middle of November is not a small problem! Both effective response and service recovery were sadly lacking. Pros: - Brand new fully renovated apartment including bathroom, great kitchenette complete with pots and pans, dishes, cutlery. - We arrived early and being an ASR member were able to check into an apartment. - Location is unbeatable, across from Holborn tube, lots of supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, British Museum and Covent Garden just a short walk away. Cons: - Pillows for the sofa bed were stained and had many hairs from previous users. I had to call reception for new pillows. - Many towels are old, frayed and stained. - Central heating did not work and despite multiple calls and personal visits to reception, over a six day stay, this was not repaired. On the final night, we were given a small portable electric heater. - On arrival, in-room safe did not work, this was fixed quickly. - On arrival, we had no hot water, again after several calls, finally on day 3 we had hot water. - Almost all staff were unhelpful or clueless. Multiple calls about lack of heating were not acted upon, requests for room change if heating could not be fixed were met with excuses like - at 6.10pm one evening, “Oh the engineer finishes work at 6.30pm so if he doesn’t go to check your room by then, call back and I will see what I can do about a change of room.” That was already my fourth call that day from early morning to evening. Shouldn’t the staff be more pro-active in following up rather than having us spend our vacation waiting in vain and shivering at night? - Lola at reception tried to lie that the engineer tried to visit one evening but found we had the “Do not disturb” sign on, which 1 we did not, and 2 I’d been told a previous night that engineer leaves at 6.30. - On our final morning we were offered free breakfast to make up for the lack of heating. Selection and service were poor, with the two attendants standing by but clearly trying to ration the food by not refilling empty stations, until more guests came. Many tables were left unbussed while the two ladies just stood by. There was a long hair in the omelettes. We would not pay £15 per person for what was on offer. - There was a lack of information given by front desk at check in, as well as zero signage in the room, about how to dispose our trash, where to get fresh towels, that there is a gym etc. We didn’t even know about the laundry room until the last day when my husband peeked into one of the ground floor rooms behind the breakfast area. - A dish drainer needs to be provided in the room. - I requested late check out as a small compensation for the lack of heating, was told we could have extended check out until 1pm, but the next day, our key card stopped working at 11am normal check out time. Conclusion: Staff training really needs improvement!
Zero star for service! Extremely disappointing hospitality at the reception. We checked in on 22 Sep and was greeted by a grumpy, unfriendly and not helpful receptionist. We also asked if we could switch to a room with bathtub and was outrightly rejected by her and she did not even make any effort to check the system for alternatives arrangements. Love the newly renovated room but the bathroom smelled of smoke which is awful for my sensitive nose. Water flow at kitchen area is very slow flowing. The staff said it was because of the new sustainability requirements. The location is great and walking distance to underground. I would have rated it 5 star. But unfortunately, the place lacks the people element, that we would normally expect from a decent serviced apartment. Update: Many thanks for Devine for hearing our concern and got us a non-smoking room. 2 service stars subsequently to this post for her service.
Location location location, easy access to the tube, walking distance to many shows and close to the British Museum. Despite the foyer having renovations access was fine and once completed it will look great. Our room was a newly renovated room at the back which was very quiet. A few teething issues being brand new but nothing major. Bed was comfy, kitchen was great to be able to make our own breakfast- supermarket close by. Recommend M&S for quality food but Sainsbury closer and was ok for basics. Washing machine handy. Shower has 2 outlets which was great with good pressure. Check in was easy and coffee machine in foyer a bonus to make whenever needed.
Stayed with my family over the May bank holiday. The staff was nice to upgrade us to the newly renovated room and the room was clean and new. However the hotel management failed to inspect the rooms upon the completion of the renovation works. They did not notice that the washing machine was not connected to the mains and that the hob was not connected to the electrical mains. Thankfully the fridge worked. The concept of a hybrid apartment hotel is good but its execution needs improvement. The staff was not clear as to when the room would be cleaned. And they only have a limited staff on duty in the evenings when guests would be demanding for things from towels to toilet paper. The poor evening crew is constantly harrassed. The situation can be improved if the hotel can train its staff to tell guests important information like cleaning schedules at check-in. If they can tell guests when checkout times are, they can be trained to convey other information. The hotel should also look into setting up a self service corner where guests can get fresh towels and other amenities like toilet paper. If mom and pop bed and breakfasts can do such things, an international hotel chain ought to be able too.
Location location. Not the best first impression - a heavy likely unhealthy smell of paint and paint thinner greeted us after a 10 hour flight. The hotel was being fully renovated, meaning there were no public areas to sit or relax outside of your room. This is fine, but wasn’t communicated on the website during booking - and no special accommodations like a nearby breakfast voucher or small gesture were made. The room was fine and clean, but the AC/ventilation was a bit stuffy, and the shower renovation we were in a new room was cheap, with thin glass shower doors that leaked all over the slippery floor. During the night, we could hear fire doors and stairwell doors slamming as we tried to sleep. All that said, it’s ultra close to the Holborn tube station and walkable to many spots in Central London. But so are many places, so I’d probably pick another spot next time.
I had a very disappointing experience during my stay at Citadines. Despite the advertised check-in time of 3 PM, I did not receive access to my room until after 5 PM. I arrived at the hotel twice between 3 PM and 5 PM, and even at 4:16 PM, I was still told that my room was not ready, with no clear indication of when it would be. This level of service is completely unacceptable. I was left waiting for two hours without being able to rest before my evening plans, which added significant stress to an already frustrating situation. The lack of communication and inability to meet basic expectations has left a very negative impression on me. Instead of offering me compensation for the time I lost and the inconvenience I suffered, the management’s response failed to address my actual request for a refund for the hours I was left waiting. I do not recommend this hotel based on my experience.
Freshly renovated, brand new rooms, super clean, great location. Unfortunately, the crew is highly incompetent. I asked for an invoice and even provided the company data and and the tax number passing my phone, but the receptionist ignored it and gave me the invoice without the necessary information. When I asked again, she still didn’t understand what I needed, and another receptionist had to explain it to her. The long queues and the crew’s behavior make it seem like they’re doing things for the first time. Luggage storage is a nightmare and feels unsafe. We waited for our bags for about 20 minutes, and the receptionist was bringing bags to various guests, asking, ‘Is this yours?’ This lack of organization means that someone could easily take someone else’s luggage. I’m puzzled as to how such a decent place hires such irresponsible and amateur staff.
It's still under construction, but the location is very good and the all the staff are friendly. Thank you for guiding me well even if my English was not good. Whenever there was a problem, they solved it as soon as possible. Especially when I couldn't find a laundry room and a garbage dump, the staff I met in the hallway guided me and taught me. She also delivered breakfast, but it was the first day of my trip, so I forgot her name. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was glad to go to London with my child after recovering from my health. London is still a beautiful and lovely city. When the construction is done, I want to visit again. Once again thanks! :-
Friendly, kind and compassionate staff, particularly Rochelle. Had an amazing stay!! Highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5
