Great alternative place to go. Fantastic vibe and plenty of boutique type stalls. We travelled by canal barge to Little Venice which was awesome. Short train ride via the tube from Kings Cross Station where we stayed. Would recommend
nnCamden Market is one of the most vibrant and unique places in London. It’s full of colorful streets, amazing shops, vintage treasures, and countless food stalls offering delicious dishes from all over the world. The atmosphere is lively, creative, and wonderfully eclectic. You could easily spend an entire day exploring and still discover something new around every corner. A must-visit for anyone traveling to London!
Amazing market with a great vibe. Lots of street food option to choose from. A lot of artists present their own designs there and they were generally pretty anal about photos being taken. I suppose to protect their designs. Many things can be found at more than one stall in the market so bargain and negotiate for a better price or move on.nnBe prepared that there will be a big crowd and part of the market is outside so you might wanna dress accordingly depending on the weather.
We headed to Camden market/Camden Lock for a few hours and this was my first visit. Overall, it was a fun and very interesting place, with a constant buzz.nnWe visited multiple shops/stalls, ate lunch, and walked the lock/canal area.nnI would describe the Camden Market as a “Very British International/Intercultural Experience”. There were literally so many market stalls and shops that there were more places to shop than you simply have time for. The variety and uniqueness of the gifts, souvenirs, food, and clothing that you find there are abundant. As far as shopping and items to buy, there is simply something there for everybody’s taste and style in my opinion.nnFoodnThere is an absolute abundance of variety for food to eat. There was food represented from just about every corner of the globe. There were also multiple places that sold just treats/desserts and drinks as well. Our group enjoyed Moroccan food for lunch and lunch at the Wetherspoons located right there. Many of the food vendors offer samples so you can try before you buy. Be prepared for crowds and wait times. Almost the entire time we were there all the food vendors were extremely busy.nnShopping experiencenI visited many shops/stalls. I would say almost all the shop/stall owners were friendly, but some in my experience were a little pushy. It seems though that this is all part of the experience and from what I’ve read there is opportunity to buy her on prices to get a good deal.nnThe peoplenYou will see people here from just about everywhere in the world who have come to experience this unique place. It is a fun place to do “people watching“. It is extremely busy, and if you don’t like crowds and hustle and bustle, it is not for you. I generally felt very safe, but you do want to be streetwise and make sure you keep your belongings close to your person as I’m sure pick pocketing occurs here.nnAtmosphere/cleanlinessnIt is a very fun and unique atmosphere with the locks still fully functioning, which is fascinating, watching the barges and boats, and enjoying a very London experience. There is a lot of graffiti, some of which is very artistic along the canal route. Generally along the canal, the volume of rubbish/litter made me quite sad and really needs to be addressed by the local authority there. Any big city is going to have its litter issues, but this is a detriment to the area and the sole reason I did not give this experience a five star rating. On the main street areas and food areas there is an abundance of litter bins, and litter is not as much an issue there, but concentrated around the canals.
Camden Market has a vibrant and unique vibe, but my experience was a bit mixed. It’s definitely lively with lots of food stalls, shops, and street-style culture, which makes it interesting to explore.nnHowever, it felt extremely crowded, especially during peak hours, making it hard to move around and enjoy the place comfortably. Prices were also on the higher side compared to what you’d expect, especially for street food and small items.nnOverall, it’s worth visiting once for the atmosphere, but be prepared for crowds and slightly expensive options.
