I was going to keep this gem to myself but decided to do the right thing and share. Booked one night but stayed two because it was so nice. Really comfy and cosy room. Warm all night, which is always a plus for me. Clean, nice bathroom, good shower. Pillow protectors, so extra brownie points. Great selection of teas and coffees. Food was lovely. Really enjoyed our stay. Can't wait to stay again. Rooms: Warm and cosy. Food & drinks: The food we had was very nice.
Came to the black dog for a Sunday Roast, which was unfortunately disappointing. Gravy was too runny, meat cuts too thin, roast potatoes bit hard. The vegetables were a few small parsnips, a leek mush and mashed swede. Although the stuffing was good. However other people's food such as the Gammon looked good. My apple crumble was delicious too! I can't fault the staff who were helpful and plentiful. My partner felt the same about her Roast too.
We had visits booked in Dorset, but left booking accommodation late, meaning that there was very little availability left. I was nervous about staying at a pub, as I expected dated, poor quality accommodation, but I was wrong. Firstly, The Black Dog was very easy to find, and had ample free parking. Check-In was quick and easy, and they recommended that we use the fire escape to bring in our luggage, as the steps were less steep. Thank you! The room was light, clean and had a comfortable bed. All of the staff were warm, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent. It is well-located for Sculpture by the Lakes, Langham Winery and Cerne Abbas Giant. Our only negative was the old sash windows, as it is a listed building, and the wardrobe rattled when you walk around the room. All in all, a great place to stay.
Came for lunch with my mum and grandma. They were about to finish lunch service but the chef and servers very kindly still allowed us to order and were very friendly and kind. The food was good and big portions!Service: 5/5
Had a very nice Sunday lunch with a group of friends. I chose the burger with crinkly fries which was really good. Food and drinks prices were reasonable and table service was very good.Service: 5/5
Quite possibly the best dirty burger in Dorset - in fact I doubt you will find better than the black dog burger, great food and friendly staff it’s definitely worth a visit - we are fortunate to have a local pub like the black dog and the owner is lucky to have such good staffService: 5/5
Fantastic staff and very welcoming - our two dogs enjoyed their stay in your dog friendly family room - thank you for an enjoyable visit and a tasty breakfast! It would be nice to have lino flooring or an easy to clean floor for the dog rooms Great stay thank you
I like staying at inns when I'm travelling alone or with my family and friends but choosing The Black Dog Inn for our recent overnight staying was a bite of work of chance as I booked in some last-minute decision. However, our experience was over satisfying and all of us as a family with young children were completely happy with The Black Dog Inn. I liked our family suit. It was completely clean and with good access to car park, playground, restaurant etc. It had a mini kitchen/sink in its hallway with two comfortable double bedrooms with enough space and brightness. Bathroom was shiny and clean with enough towels and toiletries too. There were some noises coming through windows because of pub guests who seated in beer garden but it was not too important. Though, there was not any mention about including the breakfast in our room booking, but actually it was included and superb. The English breakfast which was served were far better than many other English breakfast which we've had tried yet and I have to confess that as a family we're English Breakfast lovers and try it wherever it's available!. The portion was big enough and quality and taste were brilliant, thanks to Welsh chef, Gwill. Our coffee was tasteful and we had served even with extra glasses of juice too. Our breakfast host, Diane was a nice and kind lady who patiently gave us enough time to make our mind and order our breakfast. In general, all staff were so kind, helpful and welcoming, Thanks to all. The bonus for our accommodation were its large enough car park, kids' playground and beer garden. Its restaurant is elegant and roomy too. Its location in cute Broadmayne village and good access to natural attractions of Dorset is another bonus. If you're staying there don't forget to give yourself a tour of the restaurant with its photos of old Broadmayne and Dorset area and I hope you're enjoying it as we did.
Lovely food, great service. I got the pulled hog yorkshire pudding burger, really reccomend it! Food & drinks: Lovely food and nice drinks.
Chef was either confused or unconfident, way too much artificial flavouring and nothing matched, vomited when I got back home, pub clean modern with great service
