Came here on a visit to friends from London. Even though they were short of staff, they went above and beyond and everyone was warm and helpful. We had the carvery and everything was terrific. Also great that you had not one but 2 AF beers to choose from as I was the Designated Driver. Thank you so much!
Shelley and her team do an amazing job making sure that service, food and drinks are perfect. We've been coming here as a family man and boy for 35 years and never had a bad experience. This is how you do local pub dinning
We loved the atmosphere of this cozy country pub. Our friends from the UK introduced us to it ad it is within walking distance from their home.
Charming little place, would recommend booking, we visited on a Thursday evening and it was busy, staff were friendly. Really crispy roast potatoes, my only negative would be beef was really tough, quite hard to cut. Prices were reasonable and lovely drink selection
Good food. We had a prawn cocktail, chicken liver parfait, hake and burger. All were delicious and served quickly. The liver parfait was a bit mild for me but there was plenty of it, with lovely bread and tasty chutney and salad. Friendly and helpful waiter. Good COVID safety. Table service only when we visited. Spotless loos.
One of the best carvery meals we have had in a long time. The waiter squeezed us in even though fully booked. Amazing food and service. Highly recommended.
It was an amazing lovely pub a bit outside the city centre of Dorchester. We popped to here after visiting the beach / durdle door. It’s better to book a table in advance, but luckily we had seating both evenings we visited - yes, it was so good that we went back twice The food was great too - very good portion. Average £20 per person including drinks. The service was good. Staff very friendly. Outside seating is lovely. Will come back if we go back to Dorset.
We came across this pub by accident, and were pleased we did. Gorgeous interior with a friendly ambiance. We ate from the carvery and it was evident the chef prepared the food lovingly. Everything was delicious and the roast potatoes were the best I’ve ever had. The dessert was equally amazing. If I lived here, this would be my regular drinking and eating hole.
The Sunday carvery is absolutely fantastic. It is advisable to book well in advance as they do get quite full. They also have an extensive list of delicious desserts. We particularly loved the Belgian waffle. They offer parking out back for motorhomes as long as you eat or drink something in the pub. It was an afternoon very well spent. I highly recommend.
A great place for a light meal or a 3 course blow out. The carvery is exceptional and the best roast potatoes I have had in any pub. Lovely choice of well prepared veg. The staff are friendly and helpful and provide great service. It has become a regular for us when we are in the area.
