Normal Greggs affair. No probs with food but staff need to “lighten up”. I know they ...

Beautiful tea room with a lovely selection of teas and cakes. The Blue Lady tea was particularly good. Friendly staff and just lovely all round!Food: 5/5
We visited Baldry’s Tea Room 11, October 2023. The ambiance is clean and fitting for Grasmere. The menu choices are breakfast and lighter fare, yet the quality is apparent. Excellent service, but not rushed. The staff are pleasant and happy. We both ordered the Butternut Squash Soup with honey and sage and the cheese scone. These were an excellent choice! The sweetness was subtle with mild overtones of sage. It was obvious that this restaurant is well managed with a thoughtful skilled kitchen and staff.
That is a cup of dirty chai. We loved the rarebit, quiche and especially the huge cheese scone with salmon and cream cheese!Food: 5/5
Popped into the tearoom during the downpour. We were lucky to have seats when the rain just started. The custard is amazing. Smooth and eggy but not too sweet or too heavy. The bread itself has a little too much syrup in comparison. I’d be satisfied with some sourdough… The tea selection is quite substantive, with various choices of white, green, and black tea leaves from different regions, served in cute cups and jugs.
We visited today after a day out on the fells working. The luxury hot chocolate was just amazing along with the Bakewell tart. Always a lovely treat and the service and staff are just fantastic. A must visit why in Grasmere.Food: 5/5
Absolutely beautiful!! Minor issue but that was sorted quickly and professionally. Thank you for for going above and beyond. Your gesture was greatly appreciated. The tea and the scones were amazing! Definitely value for money!! We'll definitely be back when we visit this beautiful part of the country again!!Food: 5/5
Quite surprised by all the positive reviews. Had to stand outside for a fair while despite tables being free, then once seated, a couple next to us who arrived after us had their order taken and food before our order was taken. Friendly service but the food was just ok, if I’d ordered a steak I’d have expected to be asked how I wanted it cooked, but my sandwich beef was rare, without asking. The strangest side salad I’ve ever seen, looked like a collection of what was left in the fridge! Pesto pasta, potato salad, some kind of kimchee picked cabbage, sweetcorn, cucumber etc. Good quality bread for jam and toast, but the jacket potato had hardly any cheese on it. Milk jug wasn’t the cleanest, and piles of open sugar cubes on the table falling out was very unhygienic. Good sized tables not all squashed together, and some gluten free options.
We managed four visits here during a very busy week in the Lake District - that's how good this place is. The food and cakes are fresh, tasty and portions are extremely generous. Our last visit for lunch included the soup, egg mayo sandwich, beans and cheese on the nicest toast, and smoked salmon & cream cheese on a toasted cheese scone, followed by the best bread and butter pudding I've had outside of making my own, and fruit crumble and milkshake. The only problem was not being to try everything on the menu so...we will be back
The food was absolutely delicious! Staff were so warm and welcoming. I had their gluten free options and it did not feel like a compromise, it was lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone.Food: 5/5
Lovely cafe, the food is so fresh and you can tell it is all made by them and not bought in. One of the best Gluten Free selections I have ever seen, such a treat to get a GF Scone
